Hi tanya105
Rule #1 (in my book any way) If They want money upfront...forget about it.
What kind of work were you looking in to. If you were looking at affiliate programs I would have to recomend SFI. They are a solid companey that give you what you put in (plus they are free to join)
If you are looking for more freelance type stuff i.e. data entry, Mystery Shopping etc, check out www.whydowork.com They have lots of great resourses.
I do both. I use jobs like mystery shopping for some extra $$$ and to also reinvest in other online programs.
Wish you all the best.

Thank you so much for your reply. I checked out that website and it has alot of info. I did not find any typing or at home jobs yet but I am still looking. It is a little hard for me to find them since I am staying in Canada at this moment and I will be staying here for six months. Most of the jobs that I have seen want someone from US. I do live in US but not at this time..........it makes it alittle complicated.

I'm a big fan of drop shipping. I think they are a great way to start a business with very little money up front. Any money you do have to pay isn't for the right to sell the product. You should never pay for the right to sell someone else's stuff. The money would be for a domain name and marketing.
Cheers,
Jason

No problem.
The basic idea of drop shipping is that you, the seller, arrange with a company to sell their products. They sell to you at wholesale price, and you charge retail. A customer places an order through your site, and pays for it. You place an order for the product with your drop shipper. The drop shipper sends the product to your customer usually with no name or your name on the shipping label. The drop shipper is invisible to your customer.
The advantage is low startup and operating costs. You don't maintain an inventory, and you don't place the order until you have been paid.
A disadvantage is that you have to look hard for products with a good discount. If you are paying 95% of retail, then you may not be able to make enough money to make it worthwhile. You can either buy a list of drop shippers from a reputable company, or search the net for a company willing to drop ship.
Hope that helps. Let me know if yuo need anything else.
Jason

Hi Tanya,
In a way, I agree with Marc, about not paying up front to companies. The fact of the matter, as is with most of the decisions we make being entrepreneurs, is to reduce the risk factor.
Being an affiliate is easily the most popular option for most work-at-home entrepreneurs and those looking to supplement income. The initial draw is the fact that affiliates pay nothing to become a representative of High Street names and household names. Being free to join is not without its problems, however. I started out as an affiliate for almost every network on the market. Where some have disappeared, others have risen in their place. Some good - some bad. If you look at some of the reviews of the affiliate networks which were popular in 1999 / 2000, hardly any are still thriving, or have some seriously bad press. Information sites such as ClickQuick (www.clickquick.com) and Click Affiliate (www.clickaffiliate.com) detail rankings and reviews of the popular and not-so-popular networks & programs.
It comes down to the basic principals of business. You must give the customer what they want. In my case, I see the customer as my sponsors. I have built a business on providing my sponsors with the targeted traffic and results that they are paying for. The visitors & traffic I provide are always given something they are interested in, so in the end, I am pleasing both parties.
As I said, (in the mainstream) I started out with many networks, but now limit myself to just a careful selection. These are Clickbank, ClixGalore, Tradedoubler, and Commission Junction. These three provide me with a backbone income, which runs other ventures, and also pays the bills!
I now concentrate my energy on Adult sites (which I won't go into detail about here... ahem), and have tripled my income. The fact that the market is saturated, is not really an issue, when you consider that in the USA there are 202,452,190 internet users and a population of 293,271,500
(Nielsen//NR July/04). You can penetrate any market, as long as you have something that they want...
For the newbie, its a case of reading excellent forums such as this, until your coffee goes cold, and your biscuits go stale. The more information you are armed with, the easier it is to avoid the pitfalls. I have fallen myself, but am glad (and proud) to say, that I can provide for my wife and two kids, and am happy to go to work in the morning.
Personally, I would recommend dealing with a regular paying network to start with. I am happy earning from Clickbank with excellent programs such as Express Paid Surveys (see my signature). This pays for my internet connections and phone bills! You can build an effective website with the money you earn from such programs, and fund the project you always wanted to do...
Sorry to blather on, but it's been a while since I had a chance to air my spleen on the subject! if anyone wants to drop me a line, please feel free, and I'll advise where I can.
