Hello,
I'm new here also. What I would like is some information on having my own business. I am very discouraged with working outside my home. I'm having the worse time finding a job. I am an older worker with excellent skills however, I have to compete with the younger crowd, which in turn get's the job.
I want to have my own business so I can be my own boss.
Because then, I KNOW I'M GOOD ENOUGH TO GET THE JOB DONE!
Any advice?
thanx,
Deevah

Hi Dee,
The great thing about working at home and being your own boss is that age doesn't matter! I am part of a great company and am looking for someone like you to join me in business. Let me know if you are interested and I can send you further information. Gennie

Hello Deevah,
Sorry to hear about you. Before you jump into starting a business, start identifying your strengths and weaknesses, your interests, so on... This will give you a rough idea about where you should be heading. You might find the following article useful:
http://www.home-based-business-opportunities.com/library/start126-niche.shtml
The Internet offers an excellent place to start your own business. The only requirement is identiying a niche and capitilizing on it. Don't simply jump on to so called business opportunities out there. Most of them are already saturated.
Best wishes
Vishal

Good Morning Vishal,
Thanx, for the reply. Your word saturated really made me think twice. (good job!)
I'm interested is a lot of things. Ulitimately, I would like to have a Bed & Breakfast Inn.
My passion is to make merchandise and sell it. "The fruit of her hands" I'm not sure if your familiar with that scripture. I like encouraging people. So I want to make something that will help people feel better.
However, I have alot of idea's for selling merchandise. I need just the right "genuis idea" product.
Thanx again for your help.
Dee

Hi Dee!
I, like you, would ultimately love to have my own place of business...a quaint little shop with seasonal products and holiday goodies...I just love the holidays! But, I know we have to start out small and work towards our goals! How about making home-made greeting cards with encouraging messages? Or, wooden signs with fun sayings (or scripture verses). Of course, these could be way off as I don't know what you like to do, and I know they're not very original...but starting off with something small can always lead to bigger and better things! I hope you find something that allows you to have that work at home biz you are wishing for!
Warmly,
Michelle

Thank You Michelle,
Those are very good ideas. I have thought of other things too. However, it's where to sell and how much product to make etc.
That is why I was wondering about a street vendor lisense. Does someone really NEED one? Seems that is a place to start.
thanx again,
dee

Hi again, Dee!
I don't know anything about street vendor license...but what about selling at craft fairs/shows? You can go online and find out about ones local to you...or check with your chamber of commerce. I have attended several in the past, and am actually setting at least one up a month now! This is a great way to sell your items, especially if they are hand-made. Some craft fairs only allow handmade by seller only. You may need a resale # or business license, depending on the craft show requirements. Just an idea!
Wishing you well,
Michelle

Hi Dee. You sound like a person with a wonderful demeanor. I think a Bed and Breakfast suits you. I just wanted to wish you good luck in your venture. I will be starting a home answering service business next summer so I am using this time to create a business plan (even though it will be a low volume business in the beginning) and to figure out the type of answering service I will have as well as the number of clients. Maybe one day when you get started my business can be of service to you and your business.

What my Marketing Group did was to test different affiliate programs until we found the one that works best, then build it into a business. Shift the products, build a sales team.
I can now proudly say I am an International Internet Marketer and Home Business Entrepreneur.
I also recommend all my members join the International Association of Home Business Entrepreneurs - if you want to take the whole thing seriously and be taken seriously.
Study lead generation, free advertising, look into paid advertising, set up your own website and learn Search Engine Optimisation.
But whatever you do, have a Direct Action Plan, and follow it!
