The quotation below is from "The Hidden Superpowers Of Your Mind" - an article in the Motivation and Self Development section.

Quote:
The mind is an infinite wonder. It has the fantastic ability to transmute your desires into their physical counterparts. You can do anything that your mind can conceive, as long as you have the belief and will power to back it up.

It's so easy to overlook the powerful truth wrapped up in those three simple sentences. If clearly understood and acted upon, they hold the key to helping you unlock your awesome potential. Regrettably, many people will read it and totally miss its significance.

Everyone dreams of improving or expanding some aspect of their life. Sadly, not everyone sustains the necessary effort to make it happen. They see their goals as beyond their reach, or they're not sure how to get started, or worst, they give up after a few failed attempts.

The irony is that you only have to reach as far as your mind to begin creating whatever lifestyle changes you may desire. From there, it's all "downhill" so to speak.

Of course, positive thoughts, belief, attitude, focus, passion, persistence, discipline, action and faith, are also part of the equation, while fear and doubt are intruders that you must guard against at all times.

For me, writing affirmations down and reciting them first thing in the morning and then again before retiring at night, is an effective stimulus for conditioning my mind to deliver what I want. I even carry around the most important ones, tucked safely in my wallet, so that I can refer to them during the day.

What does this do for me? It keeps me targeted on my objective, and opens my awareness to the various possibilities for achievement. Eventually, circumstances, opportunities and coincidences seem to magically materialize to move me closer to my goal.

Without delving into esoteric explanations of the laws of attraction, vibration, momentum, magnetism or meditation, it's sufficient to say that the mind IS an awesome machine, and you can learn how to command its power to do your bidding. It has no choice but to obey.

There is one important caveat: Be careful what you wish for, it could happen.

Apart from reciting, if you also visualize the end results of your affirmations, the results can be phenomenal.

Here are some books that I found really useful:

The Power Of Your Subconscious Mind by Dr. Joseph Murphy
Seven Spiritual Laws Of Success by Deepak Chopra
You Can Work Your Own Miracles by Napoleon Hill

Best wishes Very Happy

Vishal,

You're right!

Visualizing the end results of your affirmations is critical to their achievement. The more vivid and accurate that mental picture becomes, the quicker the Universe seems to supply the details that bring them into manifestation.

Two of the three books you referred - by Joseph Murphy and Deepak Chopra - have been in my library for years. I'll make sure to pick up a copy of "You Can Work Your Own Miracles" and expand my knowledgebase. Thanks for the recommendation.

Success and prosperity,

Hermas

I agree positive affirmations can be effective, but if your core beliefs (self-image, etc.) are tainted with negativity, it may be necessary to root them out and do a little reprogramming to be completely free of their effects. I am still struggling with the distasteful notion that I have to endure a soul-numbing corporate job and a nasty commute in order to survive, even though my 'higher self' knows better and perhaps has led me here to join this discussion.
I've read most of the self-help books over the years, but more recently I find myself drawn to a website-- http://www.nehrer.net which makes a lot of sense to me.
I am convinced that self-empowerment and self-employment go hand in hand, and if one can manage to release one's innate creativity by clearing away the mental restraints, then success and abundance will surely follow as the day follows the night.
(assuming you produce a viable product or service and do your homework, of course) Laughing
