Well I run a large Group and many of us now stay at home and run our businesses fulltime.

We sell everything to everyone, and do this both online and offline.

Niche marketing is great if you can break into a niche. Some people find they are already in one!

I have many affiliates who sell our range of cleaning products. They use them in their own homes and honestly recommend them. Some participate in our wholesale scheme, some just use flyers and send customers direct to their webstore.
Many have "accidently" built big teams by leading with the product - those who liked what they saw and signed up as an affiliate to use and promote the products themselves.

I have one guy who is a personal trainer who sells the nutritional products to his clients and has built up an impressive network through his gym life and contacts.

I have an affiliate who runs a pet service who sells the pet products.
And also the cleaning products (you know the mess that pets make)
And also magazines - and not just the pet ones - she has become adept now at selling magazine subscriptions and makes good income from that.

The best way is to start general, learn the market, and find your niche, then "specialise" when the time is right. Join a good company under a leader who is already successful, and who has a record of showing others how to duplicate that success.
Ignore all naysayers and people who start telling you certain things don't work - seek out those that know they DO work and can show you HOW to make them work for YOU - and not just the HOW but the WHY and WHEN of those methods.

At the end of the day, a successful business will be YOUR business, so build it how you want to be what you want.

Hope that helps!

Hey divinebeauty...with your skills as a web designer and your knowledge of internet marketing, why not branch out into your own web design company. I did just that and have never looked back. It was difficult at first but I stuck with it and I am very pleased that I did. Is this something that you would be comfortable working with? Doing this form of at-home business, you are only dependent on yourself to find clients which is sometimes a little easier than trying to get surfers to buy another's product or service that you may or may not believe in. Let me know if I can be of more help along with others on this board. All the best.
