Jaison,

Ac a matter of fact I am sure many of us use more than one of the ways listed... so I don't know how accurate your poll results will be.

Internet marketing is my main thing, and "Internet Search" is one of the many internet marketing strategies i use...

Hello Jaison,

I couldn't help but notice that your survey only identified a handful of advertising methods, leaving the category "Other" as the catch-all for: affiliate marketing... web log analysis... pay per click... link popularity... direct e-mail... pop ups... pop unders... newsletters... ezines... interstitials... superstitials... solo ads... sponsorships... lists rental... classifieds... to mention a few. Very Happy

Consequently you might end up with "Other" returning the highest percentage amongst your respondents, based on the aggregate of the approaches mentioned above.

If that turns out to be the case, I'll bet Internet Search claims the number two spot in this poll.

In my opinion, the ideal marketing situation is one where many different and viable marketing outlets are used. Results will vary for reasons you can control and most you cannot. But, having a good mix in your marketing approach, positions you to get the best results over as broad a spectrum as possible.

Unfortunately you can never rest on your laurels, because what's working today may not be worth the investment tomorrow. So you must constantly be on the lookout for new and improved strategies to get your message to the masses, while tweaking those that have been working for you.

The process must be on-going, relentless and persistent to return profitable benefits.

All the best.

Hermas

Well since I chose other, I would like to elaborate on that. I use traffic exchanges and signature lines to let people know about my websites, works great, and it's free!

"Other" is definately winning, so please everyone, do share how you advertise!

The majority of my paying visitors come from Google Yahoo and MSN. I also spend some money on Pay Per Click Search engines and just recently have been posting to forums like this one with my URL in the signiture. Oh and I also use free traffic exchanges but i doubt i get many sales or leads from them.

I think you are missing the most important and effective form of advertising which is word of mouth. If you can get people to tell thier friends and family about your product/service that persons credibility with their friends/family will drive them to you.

For example, ever stand in a line at the movie theatre trying to decide what you want to see and find yourself thinking about what movies people said are good or lousy? Your friends word of mouth advertising are overriding literally millions of dollars in advertising.

On eBay, I have a link to my gallery. I get a lot of people requesting custom orders by visiting the gallery pages and seeing my work. The custom orders aren't always my main goal (picky customers), but I don't like to constantly try to sell a finished item.
Word of mouth works well here as well.
I also advertise my main site in a sig file in all outgoing mail.
