Your favorite web hosting company?

I am lucky as I have 2 web servers and can host my own, as well as other peoples websites. So my favorite host would have to be myself.

The advantage to this for me is I have full SSH access to the back end of the server so I know which updates are done and which are not, I have full access to the server logs, firewall, and can run/install programs which need SSH access.

As well server loads are low (0.17, 0.22, 0.18) and sites load fast (including a forum I have with over 1100 members and 100,000 posts) and uptime is excellent with the server being up 167 Days, 1 Hours and 15 Minutes since the last major update.

Another advantage for me, as I will/do host other peoples websites, I can host my own sites for free practically.

How long have you been using webs.com for? Personally my experience with HostGator's been good, not sure if it's the least expensive alternative though.

 

I like one.com for their good service. But godaddy is also good!

 

Nowadays, most folks go with either HostGator, BlueHost, HostMonster, or GoDaddy.

There may be other decent hosting services out there, but for most, it would be best to choose from the above list.

For multiple domains, I suggest a multiple domain account since it's only a few bucks more per month. For masking (most won't need this), I suggest GoDaddy.

Keep in mind that if your site ever truly takes off, you'll need to upgrade to a dedicated server, which goes for $150 plus. You'll need it for security, load, and speed.

For free webhosting you can't go wrong with Byethost. NO ads and more than you'd need to start out. I have 2 sites running with them.
Paid hosting... I have been very happy with 1&1. A lot of bang for the buck, no up-time problems.
If you need direction on creating your site go to computertactics.com. Lots of free tools/advice.

I use Dreamhost & so far they seem fine. They tend to have pre programmed responses to any enquiries though ! But I would recommend them to anyone & a lot of the top marketing folk seem to use them, so that's good enough for me.

I use Godaddy at present and have no problems with them. You can upload your own ftp and HTML but you can also use their blockbuilder if you do not have that knowledge. You can change the look and feel of your site too which I like.

Now, having said this about Godaddy, I have in the past used Sitesell. I am about to go back to Sitesell in the next few weeks as I think the suite of tools you get is second to none. All you have to worry about really is getting content written. All of the 'back office' stuff is taken care of for you.

Here's a little fact; For every hour you spend building your online business, non-SBI owners spend an additional 9 hours fighting technology, doing tedious chores, and futilely trying to figure out Search Engines.

I use godaddy too. Actually i don't have any strong opinion on hosting company, because my friend suggested godaddy to me and godaddy is the first one hosting i'm using anyway i've never had a problem with godaddy, so I'm using it now...

 

i switched to JUSTHOST few months ago. and paid around $40 for 1 year subscription. (CHEAP)

the hosting is quite good except for the support..

free domain , unlimited space and bandwidth.

 

I also switched to Just Host a couple of months ago. Cheap, 24 hr customer service, unlimited space & bandwidth.

My old host was GoDaddy but was forced to make the switch because I was trying to run vTiger CRM and it needs php-imap turned on to handle bounces. On godaddy shared servers that is not going to happen.

 

My friend suggest Godady for me. I have not use yet, but he motivate me to use godady.
i think now i got idia that godady will be best for me.But prices are very high

 

I use joesdatacenter formy dedicated and zensix for VPS and shared.

 

I use Hostgator for my main blog. The support has been quick and helpful and I can add multiple domains under one account. I have never experienced any downtime or problems with them.

For free hosting, 110mb.com is the winner hands down. No ads and popups and the servers are pretty fast. They don't use Cpanel but their admin panel is very easy to use.

I was surprised to not see 1and1.com (US) option listed on the vote. I've used them for years and been very happy with their price and their customer service! They get my vote! Diane

 

My latest favorite is HostGator but there are several excellent hosting companies out there these days.
