Hi, would love to be self-employed again. Got any ideas? Live in the Maine area. Winters are long and cold!

Hello cdpaine!
There are a lot of opportunities in the internet. However, talking from my personal experience, most of them are scams and are not worth even having a look at them.
Also, be very careful when listening to promises. Read linda's article http://www.work-at-home-forum.com/viewtopic.php?p=514#514 to see what you should look for in a company.
I have joined a large company and have been amazed with how well organized they are.

Hi cdpaine,

What do you love doing? What would you gladly do if you worked 12 hours a day for ME and I paid you nothing?

If you can figure that out, it will be a good start for you Smile

Use what you love doing and create a business out of it. It could be anything, really.

I am a woodworker by trade. A boat builder in fact. Where is a good resource for wood working at home?

Hummm?? a woodworker eh? With the long cold winters in ME you could make wooden children's toys and set up a website to have them on the market for Spring. Who knows you may even be the next major player in the Folk Art world.

I would suggest that if anyone makes promises about the money that you can make... to be sure that they can show you that they are making that amount already.

Too many scams are fallen for by people who just accept things like, "You can make $1000 dollars a day" or "Make $50,000 this month" by people who can't back those claims up.

In my business, a person can make $1000 to $2000 a day, but those days can be few and far in-between. I have made over $3000 in one day, but then I may have had nothing to do for a month.

So, just be careful that people prove that it is possible to make the money... and make sure that it is the person making the claim that has made the money... not someone that they heard about through the grapevine.

Good luck finding something that you enjoy doing and I hope that it works out for you.

Jeff
