Hello,
I just registered today. I just wanted to let you all know that I am a software engineer, and have designed many fully database-driven websites that include a lot of functionality. If anyone needs some tips, let me know. A good tool to design sites if you have some knowledge of HTML is Dreamweaver. It is very powerful and will write basic scripts for you.
One site I worked on was www.metrofaction.com. My partner and I just opened this site 2 weeks ago. It's an online shopping mall, and gives you all the tools needed to sell your products online. No programming necessary. We created this site using Dreamweaver, but did a lot of custom programming. Let me know what you think.

Hello gig229,
Just checked out your site. Good functionality but a little bare on the design. Just wondering you created the shopping cart. I'm researching some options and would love some feedback or suggestions that you may have.

when i build my websites, i care more about the design than anything. i use a lot of flash (no animations). but i want to accomplish that without using flash. i only know html and some javascript n i can't see how that can be done. will i need to know perl, php n the like?
n another thing, usin the same color code in flash n photoshop didn't give me the same color when viewed in browser. can it be corrected?

I use dreamweaver mx. It gives you more flexibility and you can add flash elements easily. You can view your code and design side-by-side which makes adding things like html or javascript a breeze.
Not sure why your color coding is not matching. What format are you saving it out as in photoshop (gif or jpg)?

Good point designjunky
Dreamweaver is by far the best HTML editor.Once you spend some time to learn it, it will be an investment for your whole life. It simplifies the use of dynamic pages so much, that is not worth even considering Frontpage or anything else.
An important observation is what Vishal said; you will need to know some basic HTML, because no HTML editor can produce 100% correct code, so you will need to go and make some changes and customizations manually.

I don't really like frontpage or dreamweaver. I usually just use a code editor, something like Alleycode, look it up.
It's freeware from what I remember. But mostly I enjoy doing websites that are simple and straight forward. Dreamweaver is bloatware. I use photoshop for making logo's and the learning curve isn't that bad as long as you master the understanding of layers.
