I have exciting news!!!
I finally received my "WELCOME, You're Hired" e-mail from West At Home!
Can you believe it!? I applied 1/22/08, and a mere 6 months later - I'm hired! Simple as that!
See, all you need is a HUGE, WHOPPING dose of patience (and a hefty bankroll to sustain you) and the world can be yours on a half shell!
Of course I have moved on to other things in the mean time (AA hired me almost immediately!), but we''ll see what, if anything, will come from this exciting new development with West.
This post is for anyone interested, and especially for PugMom58, if you're still around.
Good luck, everyone!

vagabond,
I know how you feel, I just got my first coaching as well. It was for too much transferring. I called in to let them know that most times I was instructed by a PAL to transfer cuz I didn't want them thinking that I was transferring to raise my pay, know what I mean? I was upset too, but the PAL told me that coaching is not bad it's just to make sure you know the correct way to do things. So that made me feel better. I hope you're feeling better, too!

bookwurmee, Thanks, I do feel better, calmer anyway, but I still don't know what exactly I did wrong. According to their dates I had good numbers that week, but who knows, I don't know why they put those goals up there like that would be something to aspire to, turns out that is the min they expect, or at least in my case it has been. Thanks for all your support. I think I need a vacation, I wonder if I would get in trouble if I took a week off? Probably, but I may have to anyway, my nerves can't take this. Needless to say, I don't take criticism well.

Vagabond,
You will not get in trouble if you take a week off. I've taken time off in the past as long as you keep up with the min hrs of your skill required monthly...you should be fine. RO

Hello,
Kathy here - I posted my first post about an hour ago, don't see it anywhere... ??
I have a question please - I saw the ad for West in an online local newspaper. The requirements there said I must have a corded phone w/corded headset. I did not see that anywhere on the actual west application or website.
Does the phone AND headset have to be corded?
Thank you!

If you have any questions I would be glad to help if I can when I first started I did not know this site was here could have used the help lol.... Thank you, Keepsake! I signed up for Virgin Mobile VMU, which I have no idea what this skill will involve, I just know this is a cell phone company and seems like people have said good things about it in the forum (or was that Virgin Mobile AYE? And what's the difference?).
I have tomorrow (Sunday) off, so I thought I would start training then. Any suggestions or tips about things to avoid or focus on?
Otheriwse, guess I'll jump in and see how it goes!

Hi Everyone, I trained with H$N and have been working the line for a couple weeks now. I am taking my shifts 30 minutes at a time. It does seem pretty overwhelming at times. I am hoping with time it will get easier. I was wondering if there is a place where you can talk with others that work this line. It would be great to be able to get or give information on this line. Any help info would be much appreciated. Thanks a bunch.

Workathomepro,
I work VM also. The difference is that AYS is full customer service and the activation line, which is what I work, is only for a few specific areas, namely activations, migrations, and top ups. I like it, but I have been taking it slowly.
Pugmom,
I too feel overwhelmed many times. Even though I've been with West since the beginning of May I haven't worked as much as I should so I'm still very new and get nervous easily. This week, however, I've vowed to work at least 1 shift each day, then next week take 2, and so on until I'm more comfortable. I'm sure it will get better with more experience.

RO, I decided to take this week off to give myself a break, but I am still obsessed with my performance page, anyway, before you guys talked me down from the ceiling the other day I sent an e-mail through the ask a question thing to ER. I didn't have a cow or anything, just stated the dates and facts and asked why. I got the standard "I will have to research this and get back to you" response and did not expect anything else, I just looked and the PIN is gone. How cool is that?
I am still taking the week off but it is nice to think that sometimes they do listen. Have you tried lenscrafters yet? Let me know how you like it.

Vagabond,
That's great! I'm sure you feel better now huh....anyway I will doing the webinar for lenscrafters this wendsday at 10am will. a pal told me that at the current time they are offering 18per min I'm hoping the calls come in busy. I'm am only using lenscrafters as a part time job now cause Voicelog has me working 34hrs a week and the pay is good for now. so, I'm happy for the most part voicelog pays by the hr and it never changes...which is stability and i know what to expect every two weeks with them. so, really for now I think I'm on the right track. Until I finish my MT COURSE AND THEN I'll work from home as an MT. Is going to take me about a year to finish the course...overall I'm ok for now. thanks for asking. keep me posted when you get back from you mini vac.... HEY! RELAX! AND HAVE A PINA COLADA BY THE SUN! OR WHEREEVER!!! RO R

Hi,
i've tried filling out their application a couple of times, but they will only allow me to comlete it if I speak Spanish. Do they ever hire non-bilingual workers?

Yes they do, but I believe may be happening right now is they are in need of spanish speaking agents and do not need the non-bilingual at the moment. My suggestion, keep checking and trying because with this type work it changes day to day. Best of wishes with your job search. You might want to check other places like live ops, voicelog, verafast. That is all I know of right off hand. Take care.
