I have only been working for West for about 2 months but I see on this forum people being asked by West to take a new skill. I am a stay at home mom so I need to work late at night, for this reason I took the DR skill. I don't mind working this skill, its not really hard, but because I work late at night the call volume is much slower than during the day and I find that I am making just minimum wage. This job is not a main source of income but I would like to make it worth my while (min wage in my state is only 6.79). I have been ranked a 1 for the last 2 weeks and was hoping maintaining this would get me invited to a new skill, I'm hoping to get on something that pays a little better. I have asked several times how to get invited but always get a generic answer "you have to be invited" but they won't say how or what they base this on. I see on this forum people posting that they were invited for new skill and was wondering what you did to make that happen?? Any advise would be great!

With the new way, you have to keep checking the urgent news tab for the new skills to be offered to you. HR no longer offers skills this way, its on an as needed basis and this is why I have been without a skill for over 3 months becuz I didnt want to do DR which was all they offered me.

Do you know what they base it on? No one will really say if its ranking or time with company or how you actually "get invited" Is it true that if you are on DR that they don't offer you other skills? I think I saw that posted somewhere else on this site that if you take DR that they don't offer you another skill. I know alot of people on this forum have posted that they hated DR and how aweful it is, but honestly I don't mind it. I don't take it personally and I just read the scripts verbatim, if they take the upsells great if not thats great too and half the calls are just gathering their information, no upsells. I just wish I could make more than minimum wage

the only thing that I was told that it is based on the need for the client and how busy the line has been to get invited

In the old days you could ask for one now you have to be offered one. If you are doing a good job on the skill you are on ( by that I mean if your numbers are good and you show up when scheduled) you will be offered a skill when they have a need for operators. For most of the lines I have seen the biggest hiring time is around the holidays.

Ok, I guess I will just have to wait till it gets closer to the holidays. My numbers have been good, I have been ranked a 1 for the last 3 weeks or so and I am at or above all the goals. I am hoping that this will get me invited to another skill. Thanks for everyone's help.
