When my blog (RuinedMyTrip) recently got featured on a news site, MoneyLife.in, it received 2.2K visitors in one day (from 30 a day) and the count is just exploding. Majority of them are through Facebook and Twitter. Facebook' like, Tweets, and Share went from 19, 0, 6 to 240, 186, 70 in just one day! Just to show what a cumulative effect of strong content + news + social media can do to your website.

Wow Vishal, what an ordeal.
Glad you didn't let it spoil your vacation.
Sounds like a lot of people had similar experiences.
No doubt all the comments helped get it indexed faster.
Getting featured on the news site is only part of the story,
the story is a lesson in standing up for yourself and others.
That's why they "liked" you.

Way to go Vishal.
It is always nice to get some free publicity from other places.
It is also nice when you have your own affiliate program and affiliates are doing most of the work for you and generate free traffic for you.

Yikes! What a nightmare! Glad it all worked out for you and your family in the end.
It is amazing what can happen to your traffic when an article gets picked up by a popular news site or social media site and gets people talking.

Do you ever use other social sites like Linkedin or Stumbleupon to drive visitors? I have had fairly good success with these.
