I am looking for some help with Squidoo lens building. My first attempt has been locked as "spam", so I'm afraid to try again out of fear of getting blacklisted from Squidoo altogether.
I spent hours building that lens and it a review lens. I looked at all kinds of "Make Money at Home" lenses before buiding my first and it got trapped in the spam filter and locked. I did ask for a hand review and their explanation of why they were locking it was very vague.
Anyone using Squidoo? I sure could use some help with it. I also would appreciate anyone pointing me to a helpful tips site for Squidoo.
Thank you.

First off the bat - forget about building a lens on work at home stuff ... it is simply too hard to get traffic to it plus it is easy to get locked out by Squidoo.
There are a gazillion other things you can build your lens on OTHER than "work at home' ebooks!

My advice would be to build a lens on an actual physical product. With Christmas coming up there are tons of items that people are going to be looking online for. Find a product that people are always going to be buying but at Christmas they would buy even more.
But pick a very specific product and keyword(s).
Hope that helps,
Becky

You can always contact squidoo for your problem, they always reply politely.

I have found squidoo less than easy also. Can't seem to get past "under construction" and "light on content" with advice to add content. All very vague to a novice like me.

hmmm... I never had any problems with that. Maybe you are not using enough modules.
Use several text modules and several pictures... add amazon thingie... and some other cool modules they have... in fact, make sure you watch some of the training lenses they have available....
Squidoo rocks!

Squidoo has recently become a lot stricter about their Content Policies. While surfing the site may yield many MLM opportunities and ads, know that they are "cleaning" the site of all such material. You should also check out this lens about Whitelisted and Blacklisted pages that Squidoo no longer allows linking to.
Outbound Link Limit
I've only been on the site since October myself but I'm finding it a very valuable resource. I've simply found a way to discuss working from home from an advisory stand point so that people don't feel hyped or pressured.
Remember not everything that comes up under a google search for your name has to be a landing page for your opportunity. Places like Squidoo serve well to establishing your reputation as a business person. The more quality information people can find about you, the better off you'll be in the long run.

ImportEyedea: Remember not everything that comes up under a google search for your name has to be a landing page for your opportunity. Places like Squidoo serve well to establishing your reputation as a business person. The more quality information people can find about you, the better off you'll be in the long run. I wholeheartedly second that point of view.
And while we are on the subject of Squidoo, I must mention that the lenses in your signature are attractive, informative and very well done.
I like the subtle way you present your content so that it educates, engages and persuades the reader without seeming like a sales pitch. You come across as someone who certainly knows her material and is sincere. Those factors will elevate your status in the mind of the reader and contribute to a high click through rate.
BTW, speaking of click-through rate, I notice that the http://www.affiliaterockstar.info links in your lenses aren't clickable because the html markup reads: <a>http://www.affiliaterockstar.info</a>
It should read: <a href="http://www.affiliaterockstar.info">http://www.affiliaterockstar.info</a>
Great job!
Hermas

I have made a lens about online jobs and had no problems with squidoo but I know people who did it as well and couldn;t publish it. So I guess it's all about your keywords.

Its a recent development as of early Dec 09. If you go to the site, you can still find quite a bit of what would now be considered Spam, as they are in still in the efforts of cleaning house.
I joined in October and around the time I first started popping in to their Forum, I noticed quite a bit of activity on the part of their Members in removing Spam lenses. A lot of members actually posted that they actively search the site and flag offending lenses, mostly in the Porn or MLM categories.
As I said before, Squidoo is a great place to post your work, if you are careful and creative about the content. Their members have worked hard over the last couple of years to give the site a respectable reputation and its understandable why they're working hard to maintain it.
Personally I think their standards help raise the guidelines that all Affiliate and Network Marketers should be following in their advertising.

I agree with what you said, ImportEyedea. It does help raise the guidelines and standards for affiliate marketers. Websites like squidoo and article sites such as EzineArticles.com and GoArticles.com are looking for creative and unique information and ideas.
This helps raise the bar a little. They want original content on their hosting site and if you are not willing to abide by the rules, then they will kick you out! Simple as that.
