What methods have you been using so far?

My success story with that is to use OWM...

I see you are a new member and I don't often push any products but that IS what helped me get tons of traffic to my websites by using Squidoo and learning about keyword placement etc...

Also because I built my website using SBI, and because of the training they have with that.... I learned a TON about getting free TARGETED traffic thru google and yes, I now get a steady stream of feet traipsing thru my doors with a variety of methods... articles, Squidoo lenses, and google traffic....

It did not happen overnight though....it takes TIME, my friend, TIME....

Time is right! I'm trying to teach myself that little lesson. I tend to get impatient. But I know if I stay the course and keep doing what I'm doing, the rest will follow. Best of luck to you!

It all depends what services or tools you are using. The success is pretty much individualized. Your promotion should be niche oriented and targeted otherwise it will be a waste of time. In my experiences doing online marketing I have learned to combine an assortment of tools, solo ads, article writing, blog and forum commenting and traffic exchanges. It seems like a lot of work but noone said it was easy. Some of these are free others are paid services. I recommend combining two or more free and paid for best results. Remember they are all different but yet aid in bringing you the site branding, exposure and recognition you need to increase traffic. If you have questions just send me a PM.

You need to share more info. It really depends on what you are marketing and how you are marketing.

I've combined online marketing with offline marketing for home business success. So don't look at just 'one-siding' your marketing.

I heavily use scribd.com for my campaigns. It always appear on the first page of Google after 24 hours if you got the perfect keywords so it is good to research keywords first befor making an entire campaign if you use SEO.

Article marketing is a great way to get traffic - I would suggest submitting some articles to Ezinearticles.com and link back to your website using a resource box.

If it is your own site you are trying to promote, one of the best long term methods of building your traffic is to continue to add fresh new content based on keyword research of your niche topic.

I get hundreds of visitors to my sites each day (thousands per day to my chocolate site) and I don't pay for any of it. I do try to create some legitimate backlinks to my sites from time to time and I've written a couple of articles, but about 95% of what I do is add good content based on keyword research. It works.

Blessings,
Angie

I have had decent results with Traffic Bug in addition to articles through EZine, Squidoo, Hubs, Weebly and Wordpress, all linking back to my main site.

zomka, i am like you new to the whole thing, my blog was publishesd about 2 months ago, and i felt like giving up many times, but i didnot. for me its a bit harder also, since i am not a native english speaker, so it makes it harder for me to write articles for my blog or even read guids for getting traffic. but i already got some success after only 2 months. i get between 100 and 200 unique a day. its not realy big but for a first timer and for a person who didnot spend a dime on advertising or peromotion its good. the only thing i did was douring this past 2 months, i used forums like to ask and apply methods that other used.
i disagree about spending money to get traffic or anything related for a newbie. here are some free ways you can get traffic. it takes some hard work and persistency but it pays off. do these and you will be fine. just dont give up, if i can do it so can you. good luck.

Submit your blog to directories in your niche and search engines.

Submit your site to free website review sites like coolsiteoftheday.

submit each and every post to social bookmarking sites using onlywire.

submit your articles to article directories like article base and associated content (change the article 20% to 30%, so it wont be picked up by SE as a duplicate content).

write related articles on WikiPedia with your blog url in it.

make a hubpage for your blog, with a little bit information about your blog.

make a wiki page for your blog.

make a squidoo lens or more with a link to your site.

sign up at 43things.com and write things related to your blog and what you want to accomplish.(you'd be surprise by the number of people, just reading other peoples list)

create a myspace page, facebook page and hi5 page for your site.

create an account with Technorati and with every new post, ping it.

post related how-to videos on you tube with your blog address on the bottom of the screen or at the end or beginning of the video.

use yahoo answers to answer questions related to your niche, leaving your link in the resource box. (believe it or not, 10% of my traffic comes from 20 minutes a week answering questions on yahoo answers)

create an account on stumbleupon, and stumble each and every article you write. (one of the best ways to drive traffic to your site for free)

join as many forums as possible, especially forums related to your niche, and be helpful to others and dont spam.

talk about or if you can interview a trusted person in your niche

Leave comments on blogs in related niches or any niche for that matter.(don't spam, leave genuine comment, as you would like others to do so for you)

make a banner ad for your blog and exchange with other interested bloggers.

ask other bloggers to write a review of your blog in exchange for a link to their site from your site.

dedicate a post about a top bloggers in your niche. it will catch their attention and they may link to you

whenever appropriate, link to other bloggers articles in your post. they will return the favor.

use your best articles to post on other peoples blog as a guest writer (it'll gain you visibility and new audience)

another blogger to post on your blog as guest (while he enjoys some new readers, it will brings his readers to your site as well)

Put your blog URL in your forum signatures.

ask your friends and family to Digg and stumble your posts. a post with more diggs or stumble, means more visibility.

put your blogs name and url on a bumper sticker.

once in a while run a contest related to your niche and encourage visitors to participate for a prize, and do give a prize to the winner, no matter how small.

make flyers with your blogs name and a short captivating headline style description and pass it in the mall or parking lots.

and dont forget to be patient and give it some time. no one goes from 20/30 visitors a day to hundreds and thousands of visitors, over night.

I guess targetting long tail keyword is the secret. This will lead to more targeted traffic. So, this first step is vital in building a new site. Hence you will building a niche site. However, this has to be followed by article marketing. Send 10 article to several article directories should help.

Hello,

Are you experienced or a newbie like me? I am trying the MOIS system by Kim Hoffman. You might give that a try if you are trying alot of things that are not working

You know I just finished reading this thread. My best advice. Do what Sacrat is doing. It's comprehensive, it's mostly free and you will establish yourself as "the expert" and with the blog and article writing, the search engine crawlers will pick you up and you should see an upward swing in your search engine marketing.

He's doing some stuff that I hadn't even heard. Forums along with article marketing are two really great ways to establish yourself. That needs to happen before you start getting any real traffic.

Don't give up. Be patient. You never know if you're one ad or blog away from true success.

Let me know if I can be of any help.

I'm assuming the website you're trying to promote is the one in your signature link.

For that particular site, perhaps you'd like to try Stumble Upon Ads. Stumble Upon is a social bookmarking site that works kind of like a traffic exchange except it's for blogs and websites.

I've read from people who've used this that it brought quick traffic to their website. It only costs 5 cents per click and you have to pre-pay a minimum of $25. For $25, you get at least 500 people looking at your site. Whether they buy anything or not is a different story, but it's a great way for you to test which landing page works the best or not amongst all the products you're promoting.

You don't even have to create an ad. You just promote the affiliate URL. You can pick which three categories and age groups are most appropriate for your affiliate product.

If you promote your product on a blog, you can also advertise anyone of your blog pages this way.

NOTE: If your affiliate URL re-directs to the actual sales page, then you you're fine. But if your affiliate link is on a network like Linkshare, for example, then tries to re-direct to the sales page, Stumble Upon won't allow it. I think it's to prevent the frame from breaking. Meaning, when people come to your site, it could take many, many minutes to redirect. They give up and go away.

I would advise not trying to promote the kind of salespage that's got big red letters, big arrows. You know. The obvious sales page. It's just too obvious you're trying to sell this product and get people' attention. They're likely to dismiss it as a scam and move on. If the sales page or website looks more subdues, more professional, then it might get more attention.

Go look at The 30 Day Challenge, they spend a lot of time talking about marketing and how to do it the right way. They do a lot of what is mentioned above. Take a look and let me know what you think. Hope this helps.

To your freedom and success,

Joel

I have had success getting traffic with Ezine Articles and Twitter. I don't get a huge amount of traffic, but I get a fair amount. My problem is converting traffic to sales.
