For monetizing your blog you have to optimize your blog for search engine so that you can increase visitor of your blog. There are many SEO technique, you have to own them. You have to write some fresh content for your blog first, then you have to submit your blog in search engine, blogs sites. Other technique of SEO are ping blog, social bookmarking, forum submission, article submission etc.

...and then you have to write MORE fresh content to your blog... ping your blog AGAIN ... get active (and stay active) in forums....
Just wanted to make sure folks realize that it's not a one time deal.

I've never heard of anyone having a problem with people posting everyday. I only think it's spam if you're posting the same thing or cheating by updating only the date of the post. Or if all you are posting is ads.
Otherwise, it's often optimal if not necessary. There's often news to break and people don't want to hear it late. As long as you have quality posts, I think you should update as often as possible.

I think that becoming more social, you will get much more traffic than some SEO strategies... although, i might be wrong

I'm guessing that you're assuming already that anyone promoting their blog would have affiliate links and/or adsense to actually earn money off their blog. Otherwise those are all methods for generating traffic not necessarily monetizing.

With your Blog, initial Traffic is best garnered by Social Networking or Posting on forums and listing your Blog in Blog Directories.
If you can't wait for traffic, you can implement paid strategies like PPC or CPA marketing to get qualified traffic quickly.

Getting traffic? Well, there are many tips and guidelines you can search over the net. But one of my process is doing off page optimization. I'm more on getting traffic in SE's like Google. I'm building my backlinks with my target keyword. Then, if my keyword rank in 1st page of Google, that's really a good points in increasing my traffic.

Writing newsworthy posts will generate the highest quality backlinks, draw the most attention from social networks, and generate the most traffic.
It always comes back to creating quality posts.

Little trick to getting a better Search Engine Ranking and more views to your blog:
Make 2 Yahoo Accounts.
Go to Yahoo Answers! and using Account #1 (A Generic Name), post a question regarding content on your blog. Set it to expire in 3 days (or 7 days)
One day before the close of the question, log in to your Account #2 and answer your question again, pertaining to your blog. As a Source, type in your Blog URL.
Log back into your Account #1 and choose Your answer from Account #2 as the best answer.
Do this several times, and your views will increase dramatically, as well as your Search Engine Result Page Rankings.

Basically, link bait is important.

If your site has an RSS feed you can ping it using sites like Pingler, Ping-o-matic, and Pingoat (sp?).

moneymaker1008: If your site has an RSS feed you can ping it using sites like Pingler, Ping-o-matic, and Pingoat (sp?). So in order to do that do I just copy and paste the RSS feed's url?

Also, mentioning news worthy subjects within your article may help such as "just like the (famous person or event) it too has... or something like that. Be creative but try to avoid being fake. Make use what you use makes sense.

nunna3rd: So in order to do that do I just copy and paste the RSS feed's url? I think for most of those sites you can just use your regular URL. But yeah, it does the rest of it for you.

If you want it to go faster, then you may have to pay. Look at a site called EngineSeeker.com.
I never used it. Just saw it out there on the net.

Doing blog posting is an ongoing job. If you are using wordpress, you are not required to ping the blog anymore because of the built-in ping feature. There are lots of SEO plugins that can automate things like automatic twitter and onlywire.

For blogs, I would suggest joining services like mybloglog or blogcatalog to list your blogs there and connect with fellow bloggers.
