With regard to http://www.bummarketingmethod.com, the free course contains some very useful actionable tips and plans, but I would advise that don't sign up for some of the service recommended by Travis as personally I feel that without subscribing the service you are still be able to achieve some success.

Are you talking about the site in your signature? The way to get traffic is to add quality content based on smart keyword research.
To be honest, if you don't already know how to get traffic to a website, that shouldn't be your niche topic.
It's best to write about something you know about. Regardless, though, find keyword phrases that have low competition and build pages around those phrases.
Include the main phrase in the headline, first sentence, last paragraph, and in a text link. If it's a long page add it a couple more times sprinkled throughout.
This way the search engines will list your site in the search results when someone searches for that phrase and you'll get free targeted traffic.
That's a bit "simplified" but that's what you need to learn how to do properly if you want to get plenty of traffic.
There are some free resources that go into more detail explaining the basics. Take the time to read them and then put the info. into practice and you'll be pleased with the results.
Blessings, Angie

I would say,
Write articles and post on forum. - Everyone knows~
My another suggestion is sending emails to promote your website
If you go to church on sunday, You may have good chance to have
as many as email address if you want join or already member of any group in your church.
I go to church which is less than 300 peple, but imagine, But I have conncetion with admit. people so easily I could have as many as address I want ( Bible studying excuses...)
It works, not only church your work places, and school,
go find and get as many as email address you can. It's FREE
ADVERTISING WEBSITE METHOD!!
Happy day~

To get targeted traffic I use Article Marketing, with article postings based around the products I'm marketing at my website.
I use classified ad sites, but the challenge here is that not all classifieds may be good for a particular product or service you may be marketing. So you need to track your ads by classified site to see which one's work for you.
The classified sites that have sent me targeted traffic are Kugli, Backpage, USFreeAds, Kijiji and UKClassifieds and VivaStreet.
Another source of targeted traffic is using safelist. Many safelist have a standard mailing and a credit mailer. Use the standard mailer first to see which safelist is the most responsive in sending targeted traffic.
Then you can switch over to the credit mailer on these responsive safelist to get as many eyeballs on your marketing material.
Traffic exchanges are not good for much else except trying to get sign ups or generating eye views. The exception to these are the text based traffic exchanges since people will usually read the text before clicking on the link.
Also use Blog Sites like eHow, Bukisa, Squidoo, Twitter, Hubpages...

Traffic is the $1,000,000 question. Let me share how I have started to generate some free leads and traffic to my site.
1- I used a free service to create my own lead capture pages.
There are many great paid and free services on the market. As an experienced web designer as well I have also used different programs to create my own. For a quick easy way I suggest signing up for EMAILMEFORM.COM + INSTANTSQUEEZEPAGEGENERATOR.COM.
Both tools are free and can create some top notch results. Now the pages I create I then advertise all over the internet. One page that has created amazing results for me is a page where I offer FREE LEADS. Everyone that signs up becomes a lead that I can then offer my other programs to. Its been an effective method for me as im generating on average 5-10 unique leads each day.
Information and tools are key in this business. When you offer what other business owners as well as prospects need your results will show.

blogging, blogging, blogging!
Is what has generated the most success for me. Google loves focused and new content surrounding a particular theme.
I figured this out by accident almost. I just started a blog and was faithful to writing everyday for 30 days. Then, use google analytics to find out what keywords people were using to find me. Started writing on those topics and within 30 days I was on the first page without having to pay for the spot!

Business Cards???
I know this sounds old fashioned, but everytime I go to the ATM machine, I leave a couple of business cards. This is actually bringing steady traffic and sales to my website.
I dont go out of my way to leave business cards but just leaving them around places I visit each day anyway, like the supermarket or ATM has been working.

Crosslinking is one of the most common used techniques by professionals online to create massive amounts of traffic to their websites. One of the best parts about crosslinking is it does not cost a single penny. THIS IS FREE ADVERTISING! So what exactly is crosslinking? Simply put, it is when you create a marketing campaign around a set of keywords that are relevant to your website and then target these keywords in off site locations with a link back to your main website to increase your search engine ranking. If it sounds confusing, the concept is a lot simpler than you think. To make it a little simpler to understand, the off site locations include websites such as article hubs, youtube and even blogs.

You may also chose to use OnlyWire, which is a Social Bookmarking Service. OnlyWire currently supports automated posting to 28 bookmarking sites.
If your not part of the ones listed join them and if one that you do use is not listed request that it be added.
Also ping your blog or lens post with Pingoat.

First off, find keyword phrases relevant to your market that have decent search numbers and low competition...
Then, use those phrases as a basis for your content, such as:
- Blogging frequently - Article Distribution - Video Distribution - Commenting on relevant blogs - Free Press Releases - Social Bookmarking
That should keep you quite busy, and develop a steady stream of traffic.
