Does anyone pay to have articles written and submitted?

Writing is probably my weakest point. It takes me forever and a day to write an article. I have looked at websites that offer article writing services and submission to article directories. The price is worth it to me. But I guess that means I'm not the author of these articles and can't post them on my website? But it would still get my website some exposure while I learn to write better. Any thoughts on this subject?

Some people do use them, but honestly I would rather take a completely different route. If article writing isn't for you, I'd switch to possibly video marketing, podcasts and the like so that you can be seen or just be heard depending on the method you choose to market. You can usually also use embed codes to get your audio's out and posted on your site for easier navigation.

Seriously think before you spend any hard earned cash on your marketing. Think of other possibilities you can do that have similar effectiveness. Then again, lots of people listen to podcasts like wildfire, so if you podcast on iTunes, look out!

I have had articles written for me and you do become the author of those articles.

If you are not that good at writing or find it too time consuming, I think it is a good idea.

There is no problem with having articles written for you and yes you can put those article on your site as your work hence you paid for it.

If you do hire a writer, especially one you do not know well, you can occasionally check your contents URL with Copyscape, to be certain it has not been duplicated.

I write my own articles, but that's my job. I'm a professional technical writer, but honestly it does get tiresome. Sometimes I feel like I just don't have anything else to say or I can't find the ambition to even get started. I hope all this writing pays off !

I'm just stating, there are other ways to get yourself and content out there. If you can't write but you can talk, then a video or audio podcast may be good for you to get into. Depends.

Then again, if you wish for the articles, I'd go for the articles. It's all a matter of what you're comfortable with, what you can do and what you can improve upon elsewhere and work on it.

So don't give up writing just because you're buying articles, just keep trying.

I create most of my own content, although there were two occasions where I've paid someone else. At some point, I hope to "outsource" most of my content, but I'm not there yet...

eHow.com!!! They pay decent money!!! And the best part....it's residual! I wrote an article for something dumb, and make almost $10 a month on it. Imagine how much you can make writing more? But since I'm not that great at it, I only wrote one. But you have to write things on "how" to do them. Seeing there are quite a few writers here, I'm sure you won't have a problem tailoring your writing style to accommodate.

Hello Jo Ellen, and welcome to the forum.

Glenn makes a REALLY good point... a REALLY good one. Did I say that was a good point? Because it was Videos, audio, sketchcasts (did those ever catch on?), whatever... it's possible to get your voice heard in the time between now and the day you feel comfortable with your writing ability.

But to directly address your question, here are my thoughts. It's subjective whether or not my writing style is good, but I like it. And since I'm kinda picky about minor details, sticking to developing my own content works best for me right now.

With that said though, I don't see anything wrong with the plan you've come up with. If you feel writing is a weak point, why not get a service to develop content for you - it's quite common (from what I gather on the topic). And, if you do your due diligence before picking a writer, you can ensure that the content is 100% unique.

There's really no reason to be scared of paying for content then putting it on your site. Again, if you make sure it's 100% unique, then you're ok all around.

Victoria makes a good point about Copyscape too (as a way to check).

Lauren - I know the feeling, I'm an 82-tabs-open-at-the-same-time sorta chick myself .

You can find lots of writers looking for work at www.elance.com. As a professional writer myself, I am regularly looking for work here. Most writers here are happy to ghostwrite articles and hand over copyright to you.

I do suggest you don't go for the lowest bidder, though, if you want good quality articles.

You might find someone here who you can use on a long-term basis.
