I agree that Adwords is a great way to get traffic, and while I do agree that it is simple to set up, the truth of the matter is that it is very complex.
You really need to understand copywriting, web design, targetted marketing, and a whole bunch of other factors before you attempt to earn money with Adwords - otherwise, you are going to flush your money down the toilet, which has happened to thousands of internet marketers who thought that making money with Adwords was going to be a walk in the park.
If you want to earn money with Adwords, I say go for it, but make sure you get some quality training in Adwords AND internet marketing before you start - otherwise, you are setting yourself up for failure.

Thanks getagrip! And that is exactly why I have stayed away from it up to this point. I have been very leary of it and just don't think I am ready for it.

good advice. i think that if one wants to learn adwords, start out with msn adcenter. You can get a real feel for ppc before getting into adwords.

It sounds good, but it's an easy way to lose a lot of money!!

Adword can indeed be a journey of frustration with all the updates and changes. I swore it off until I recently received of pair of $50 free adwords credits.

Yeah Adwords can help you to gain your traffic. But it cost too much. And if you're going to use it you really need to have a big budget. And IMO you still needs to build your site by doing SEO. Because doing that thing will help your site to have a good foundation in SE's.

elle14: But it cost too much. Hi Elle14,
No, it doesn't. Not if you know how to use it.

I agree with getagrip. Adwords can be very useful but it is not as simple as just throwing up an adword and raking in the money.
You need to do keyword research and have skill at writing ad copy that converts.

daniel: what's the difference between adwords and adsense?i'm just new to this business Hi daniel,
Google the two terms and you'll know.
Part of the learning process is investigating things yourself when you have a question. No one here should be willing to help those who won't at least try on their own.
If for some strange and unusual reason you can't find the answer but have honestly tried your best, then consider asking us to help.
In this case it'll be quick and easy for you to find your answers. You don't need anyone's help.

I am at that point in this internet business journey where I have to make decisions as to how to market my website. Web 2.0 is probably the way to go which is as I understand it....do it all. As far as Adwords, that is a dangerous place for a newbie to go. Before embarking I would suggest Perry Marshall's book ($16) on Amazon for a starter, then check out his website for more comprehensive training before dipping your green toe into the Adwords pool of sharks.
