Here are 5 Ideas that are easy to do and actually work. Use them.
1. Sign Up To MyBlogLog.
If you haven't done this already then do it. It actually works. You will receive traffic. Yes, you need to participate in the Communities, but hey, this is easy and takes no effort. Simply signing up will feature your site and you will almost instantly get a few hits.
2. Post Comments on Other People's Blogs
This will also get you traffic. Spend some significant time doing it and you will get visitors clicking on your links. Add excellent quality content to your comments, totally relevant to the post and you will get even more traffic.
Remember, this is about adding good quality information, not spam.
3. Join Digg and Submit Your Webpage's.
Have you checked out Digg yet? If not, do it. If you submit your webpage's to Digg, you will receive traffic. It is that simple.
The other bonus about submitting to Digg is that your pages will get indexed by Google overnight. This is a great advantage. Getting your content into the Google Monster is what you need otherwise no one is ever going to find you.
The key to Digg is to find new content - post it to your blog or website and then go and post it in Digg.
You need to be the first though with your new content - whether it is a 'news' item or whatever. Otherwise you will be competing with everyone else.
4. Give Away Freebies
Everyone loves freebies and people will even come to your site just to check what you are giving away.
A free e-book? Remember to ask for their email address first. How about partnering with other sites where you can offer free products and get people to your own website.
5. Hold A Competition
Everyone loves competitions. Particularly if there is a big prize. If you have made some money online already, reinvest it in a product you can giveaway. All the top bloggers do this to get people coming back to their sites.
Make sure you advertise your competition everywhere - forums, blogs, twitter etc. You need the most coverage to get interest in your site.
How about you? Got any good easy ideas for website traffic? If so, please leave a comment.

Great tips, Gerry! Here are five more:
1. Optimize Your Web Pages
Build your web pages around carefully selected keywords and key phrases. The more tightly targeted each web pages is, the more relevant it will be in the search engine results. It will rank higher and will yield much more qualified traffic.
2. Write And Distribute Articles
Writing articles gives you the opportunity to highlight any number of consumer concerns in your particular niche and offer practical solutions. This elevates you to a position of authority, establishes your credibility and helps you to accumulate a following. The link in your resource box leads traffic to whatever particular asset you are promoting.
3. Develop An Email Course
Use an autoresponder to broadcast a 10-day email course, a series of useful tips, or some other form of important information. You can link a squeeze page to your article resource box and require readers to sign up to get this information. You can then release it daily or on some other schedule.
4. Create Squidoo Lenses
The Squidoo platform is an important tool for testing new ideas and enhancing existing marketing strategies. You can benefit from its INTRAnet community as well as its INTERnet exposure. It's free, easy to learn and lots of fun.
5. Post In Forums
By sharing your knowledge with others through regularly posting in forums like this one, you develop relationships with people of similar interests. This can lead to joint venture arrangements and other profitable opportunities. Plus, the privelege of a live signature link (or several) to online properties you own, is a passive way to drive interested traffic to those sites.

GerryWalter: You need to be the first though with your new content - whether it is a 'news' item or whatever. Otherwise you will be competing with everyone else. Better yet - make it YOUR unique content then you have no need to worry about competition.

Great information. I haven't tried to hold a competition. I generally use a lot of the free resources out there that have been mentioned (squidoo, digg, etc...).

Great info. I wrote down 4 new things on my to-do list to check out. You can do enough marketing, right? I was wondering about Digg, so I guess now's the time to check it out.

I've got to admit I haven't checked out Digg yet, but better late than never I guess! I am new to this site and have spent a bit of time reading posts on various threads, so far it's a revelation! Appears to be loads of great information.
