I'd like to take a minute to ask which web hosting and domain registration companies you use. I'd like to know about both good and bad experiences you have had.
The reason I'm asking is because a friend and I are working on a project (details coming soon), and part of the project entails recommending web hosting/domain companies, and we would like to recommend good companies.
We are defintaly going to use Godaddy, since we have had good experiences with them, and we will probably also use Blue Host...but we would also like some additional recommendations.
Please let me know what your recommendations are.

Since I originally made this post, we found some great hosting companies to recommend for our project. After doing some online research, in addition to the two hosting companies listed above, we are also recommending Host Gator, 1&1, and Host Excellence...so no need to reply to this email unless you have some additional recommendations.

HostGator is good with cPanel, site5 is cheap and OK

Have always used ICDSoft as web host. Have had no trouble in the last 4 years and they have responsive support on those rare occasions when needed.

I just signed up with midphase and so far it seems to be pretty good. They are pretty quick to get back to me with answers to my questions.

One hosting company that I use on a regular basis (I'm a web designer), is eboundhost.com. The 1 thing that will stand out with them is the customer service. You can actually get someone on the phone to talk to you regarding your concerns. But I would always recommend purchasing your domain names separately. I use godaddy.com. Very simple and easy. And that guarantees (God forbid!) that your hosting company goes out of business, your domain doesn't go with it. Purchasing your domain name independently insures you will always have the rights to it.

I will be using GoDaddy for domain registration and for hosting I've been using Kiosk.ws because I don't need a lot and I could start for $1 my first month and chose the bronze package for only $5.95 per month afterwards. Like most hosting and domain services you can earn from referrals as well without having to join clickbank or commission junction. It also has cpanel which was a bit intimidating for this rookie, but the tutorials included helped me get started.

I have been using 1and1.com. They have excellent pricing and packages. They also have A++ customer service. I use them over my own affiliate company's hosting company.

I would recommend godaddy for domain registration and hostmonster for web hosting. Its really affordable.

I deal with host gator and had no problems at all so far. I like the fsct that it has cpanel and fantastico, which makes it so easy to install your blogs, forums, stores and much more. A click of a button or two and it's done.
It really also depends on your needs of service. But if you think of incorporating a blog into your site, then choose a host which has fantastico enabled such as host gator or bluehost.

I get my domains from GoDaddy.com and Namecheap.com. Namecheap has been running a promotion where u get the whois guard free with each domain you purchase. For hosting I use Hosting Zoom and Hasty Host, but I am considering moving to Hostgator because I've heard really good things about them and I like their deals much better than HZ.

I've now been with them about five months, and so far so good. Their support has been pretty good, in a way better than HZ, but I am still watching to see what happens as they grow.

I, too, use Site Build It or SBI. They are not as cheap as the ones you have recommended so far, but they are far more than just domain registration and hosting.
They have all the tools integrated into their system that makes it possible for even a complete amateur (like me) to build, not just a site that no one ever visits, but a growing business. Their tools include brainstorming tools, block by block sitebuilding so you don't have to learn html, and all the other codes, a step-by-step action guide to take you through the entire process (both written and video - I love the video), world submitter that does the continual submissions to the search engines as needed automatically, an incredible forum (best I've ever been on), blog and ezine tools, form builder and autoresponders, etc... ...actually, I don't even know what all there is that is available as I am still a toddler at this.
I do know that I am completely sold on the system because I use it and love it. It is well worth the annual fee of $299 (although right now they are having a sale buy one get a bonus one for $100 for yourself or a friend - only till Aug. 28).
They even have an affiliate program with high commissions and lifetime referrals. Hint - Hint.
Seriously, I'd be pleased and honored if you checked them out using my link below, but even if you don't want me to get a commission if you decide they are as awesome as I think and sign up, no hard feelings. Just Google them and you can take a free tour of the company at no one's benefit - ha ha.

Honestly, you should sign up to their affiliate program and include them on your site. They are helping everyday people who are not computer saavy to build online businesses every day. You may as well include the top of the line, best program on the subject. Some people want more than just a $10 domain name. Give them what they are looking for - a real chance at success.

Ok, if you don't know much about hosting or html, use yahoo. they give you a good deal and their hosting panel is really easy to use. I'm a designer and I do hosting for my clients, but I am there to help them if they run into trouble. You may find it harder to get the help you need from a big hosting company, and cpanel can be a bit confusing at first. I reccomend using an easy program like Yahoo if you are new to the game. They even supply you with an good FTP program.
