I was purchasing domains through 1and1 and tried to put together a website over there, but without paying more money, I couldn't do much. Not to mention that I am completely new at this and had no idea what I was doing.
I signed up with SBI in the beginning of Jan. here. It is more expensive, yes, but I'm blown away by what I have already gotten in return. The tools and information to help me get started are vital to me making or breaking it! I would highly recommend it for a newbie, but I hear they're also great for experienced folk!

These are few things to consider to select a webhost.
1) Storage Space and DataTransfer: Note: It is extremely important to look at the monthly data transfer bandwidth included in a plan.
2) reliability :
3) Technical Support
4) Added Features
Examples of services include also visitor counts, e-mail forwarding options, real time chat, shopping cart functions, and web statistics. The list goes on.
5) Pricing Structure
A good web host company will not tie you into a long-term contract that will prevent you moving if you don't like the service.
6) What type of Web hosting server is offered?
7) Does the Web hosting server provide back-up and recovery services :
Read the Terms of Service:
The most important thing to remember is to research and shop around. The more requirements you have, the most likely you pay more. But paying for a quality web host provider is a good investment especially if your business will in the future become more reliant on the Internet.
My recommendation is Drupalvaluehosting.com

Well - to dig up an old thread.
I am trying to solve my webhosting situation. I was using Godaddy, then switched to Bluehost, then Webhosting Buzz. Each of these hosts has had different unique problems.
I am not so much trying to save money as trying to find a host that is reliable, easy to use, and suits my needs. For example:
1. Zero or minimum downtime 2. Fast loading times 3. Good customer support - helpful and not assuming that you know a bunch of fancy webhosting terms 4. Will move my accounts, Wordpress blogs, and email addresses from my old account for me. 5. Has Cpanel. 6. Has fantastic 7. Will not suddenly suspend my accounts for no reason due to my accounts using "too many resources." Will not have "bad days" when the connection is terribly slow due to server trouble. 8. Gives a unique IP to my account.
I would much rather spend $10 per month for the above than $4 per month for something else.
Does anyone know anything about this?
At the moment, as I write this, ALL of my sites are down because they were "using too many resources." No warning, no error on my part that I know of. They are just down.

Wow - I forgot I started this thread!
Its amazing how much your personal preferences can change on the internet over a two year time period.
After my buddy and I started doing our research, we found that a lot of people recommended Hostgator. I decided to give Hostgator a shot after I started to build a bunch of BANS stores, and I haven't look back since - in fact I moved all of my Godaddy websites over to Hostgator because they offerred so much more for about the same price.
Right now Hostgator charges $7.95 a month to host unlimited domains with unlimited bandwidth, and they have a lot of great extras as well!

GoDaddy for domain name regist. and HostGator for hosting.

I would recommend Global Domains. Yes its $10/month but if you market it like you would work at a normal job you will make money. I marketed GDI for only a month and I already have a downline and made the leaderboard for $100 bonus.
