Hi, I will probably be signing up with SBI SOON...and was wondering...I was reading a thread about designing your web site around a specific niche...
My question....I have a vision of what my web site will look like...it would have some money making ideas for mom's working at home and then content on family and kids....is that tooooo broad of an idea..
OR...should I stick with squidoo, which I love, and seperate the two niches?
Your suggestions and comments would be appreciated!
Thank you!

What happened for me when I started my SBI site was that I THOUGHT I knew what niche I was going to go in but then by the time I got through the training videos they have, I had more clear direction.
I personally would not combine niches as it is harder to rank in the search engines if you do. For instance if you have pages about breastfeeding and working at home plus taking care of toddlers all on one site, it can actually confuse the search engines into thinking your site has no value and they just kinda skip over it...
That's just my own interpretation of it.

Hummmmm, thanks, Mountainmom5...it makes sense, BUT, now I'll have to think about what direction to move in!!
Perhaps the SBI course would make it more clear...
Will have to think about that one for a bit...right now I have to plan for my daughter's 2nd birthday!!
Thank you!

Hello Lauram, I agree with Mountain Mom totally.
What you can do is build your main SBI theme site.
Then, later use Squidoo or additional website pages for related topics.
You will need to learn about the keyword research to be certain your keywords follow the main theme.
If you publish on Squidoo, you can link your Lenses together and also link them to your main SBI website through anchor (clickable) text. Of course, with tightly related keywords.

Thank you, Victoria...that was along the lines of what I was thinking of doing, web site and linking with Squidoo lens...
VictoriaNTC: Then, later use Squidoo or additional website pages for related topics. Once I have the main topic, then I could have additional pages ON that same website for related topics...of course, with related keywords...? Or would I have to have another web site?
Example...web site on raising kids, then once that is up and running, add pages perhaps on breastfeeding, etc.. on the website as well as linking to squidoo lens??
Am I clear as to what you both are saying?....sorry...there is SO much to take in, I want to make sure I understand b/f I dive in!
Thank you both so much for your input and insight!

Lauram: Example...web site on raising kids, then once that is up and running, add pages perhaps on breastfeeding, etc.. on the website as well as linking to squidoo lens?? Yes, except that if you use SBI you will be linking FROM Squidoo TO SBI ...
Squidoo is just another way to get more traffic TO my SBI site.. to help it gain ranking in the search engines.
Lauram: there is SO much to take in, lol - I know but believe me, you are getting a good handle on it all...

Yes, of course, linking lens TO the web site...thanks..
I'm cerainly TRYING to get a handle on it all!!
So, essentially, you can have different topics linked TO the web site (lens, articles, etc.) and WITHIN the website (additional pages), but the additional topics just wouldn't be the 'focus' of the web site...(all linked with key words, of course...)
Am I getting the right picture?
Thanks, yet again!

Hi Laura,
You are asking good questions and it's great to see you are looking before you leap. (I'm really in the cliche mood tonight, apparently).
I just wanted to share my own experience with you to help you gain a little more clarity and focus.
If you decide to go with SBI (and of course you should! ), you definitely want to focus your first site on a very particular theme/topic/niche. I decided on a broad niche for one of my sites and it took me a couple of YEARS to start getting some decent traffic.
That's NOT something you want to do starting out. You'd probably give up in defeat before it was all said and done. Sadly, you'd end up thinking that the "system" didn't work. It really does, as long as you follow the advice of those who've gone before and know what they are talking about.
You certainly can cover a variety of topics as long as they are all closely related to your theme. If they can qualify as sub categories you can usually make it work.
As Viola mentioned, when you start the brainstorming process in SBI, it will help to give you direction and clarity about where your focus should be - how broad, how narrow.
Blessings, Angie

Lauram I use SBI exclusively for my online businesses. I didn't know what "business" to start when I first bought SBI. I bought it because "everything and more" is included in the price and because their Action Guide promised to guide me in the 'proper business direction (niche)." Which it did!! Holding my hand plus their brainstorming tool has paid real rewards.
Best to you as you learn and grow your business!
