I just started my website a little over a week ago and I'm having a really high bounce rate on it. Why? Am I doing something wring and how can I fix it?

Can you provide a link to your site?
Or is that the link in your signature?

Congratulations on getting started with your first website! That's really great. One thing I think that would improve your bounce rate is to get rid of the bright flashing ads on your site.

They scream at the visitor and not in a nice way. The rest of the site look and feel is lovely which makes the ads even more glaring and unpleasant.

I'm not saying that you shouldn't have advertising. If you look at my sites you'll see that I definitely do! But do try to make them blend a bit more into your content so that your visitors don't feel attacked by them the moment they land on the site.

You might even want to start out with text ads rather than graphic ads. I stuck with text ads for the first couple years and just recently added the image option to some of my ads. I really haven't had them long enough to notice an appreciable change one way or the other on my income, so I'm still "testing."

I wish you all the best.
Blessings,
Angie

Thank you so much for your advice. I think you're right I gotta do something about the adds. I'm going to try the text adds like you suggested.

yes on the ads note I agree with Angie, you want your ads to blend in with your site. When I looked at you web page that's the first thing I notice was the ads.

Thank you. I am thinking of just sticking to text adds but I haven't made the switch yet.
