It is most annoying for visitors to take more than one minute to load a page. You can cut your loading time by using less graphics .

True!

If you can avoid overloading your website with a bunch of graphics and/or audio, I would strongly suggest you do so. I believe the average time that a visitor to your website will wait for it to load is about 7 seconds or so. And having too much video, graphics or audio will slow it down.

If you absolutely need to use this stuff, use it sparingly and don't get to excited and go overboard. You may put yourself at risk in losing a potential buyer.

Get a good Lead Capture page. Offer something Free of value to the prospect. Get them into an auto-responder and that is when the process of selling starts!

I have simple websites, but some visitors complain that it is very "plain"

Start with simple lead capture page.
Once the subscribers get into the autoresponder.
Introduce your website to them.
