Read up on it and watch videos on the net by searching for them in the search engines. Thats how my partner learnt most of it. It's not easy but it can be done.

Hello jnoa,
The easiest place to create a free website is Weebly. You can use a sub domain or purchase a domain name right there on the spot, will have free hosting and can even attach a free Weebly Blog. Weebly has the important options such as video, and much more and is working on offering image alt tags. Not to worry about this yet....
You can search for Weebly tutorials, or PM me and I will send a link for you.
Now, there are many things you need to do as far as market research and SEO whether you use free or paid advertising, so you can either rank well or get clicks for a reasonable price.
I hope this helps you get started. Squidoo is a great place to begin also.

There are lots of ways to make a freewebsite and it's not that really hard to do..
You can go to www.blinkweb.com or www.weebly.com and follow the simple step by step instruction to build your website..

Hi jnoa - you have gotten some excellent advice here. I personally am a Squidoo fan but have also used the free website places.
Don't let it all overwhelm you ... you learn as you go.
I like potpiegirls training on Squidoo as she breaks it down as to how it all works with keyword etc..I struggled to stay in the saddle with Squidoo for a while but now I feel like I can hang in there and maybe eventually ride bareback..

I am using Microsoft Office Live Small Business for my main website. It's Free for the first year and only under $15 a year after per each domain name which includes free web hosting. Almost all website builders are user friendly and you do not need to learn any html to create a professional looking website. Good luck and can't wait to see your website up and running!

Well..if you want to make website for business/make money from it for long time, then Don't look for any thing free here. After a period of time you will feel to have your website with a neat domain name. You must have your own domain name and hosting space. Learn HTML,.. it is not that tough and you don't have to hand code webpages these days, you just have to know fuctions of tags.
There are so many "website templates" available around on the net. Down load a neat "html template" on your computer.
Download HTML editor - Dreamweaver
Open the template in dreamweaver and put your content in it.
You will become expert in it after some time, i too was novice like you and run my website on free domain name and hosting space fopr whole 1 year before shifting to my own domain name.
thanx

There are two ways to go here, depending on your intentions.
1) You can learn HTML, as some people really enjoy it, possibly make a career of it.
2) Or, you can use any the advice above building Weebly sites and Squidoo Lenses and spend time learning to market. You will need to keep building back links to your site and adding fresh content over time.
3) I suspect that in the future, we will see more very simple ways to build a website, such as Weebly, Site Rubix, etc.
Have a safe and happy Halloween!

You could start with a blog, sign up at blogspot.com or similar Next I'd start to learn html, there is a lot of tutorials on the 'Net
Finally I'd buy a domain name and some cheap hosting ( godaddy.com or hostgator.com)
Hope This Helps

I personally prefer to look for already premade templates that would fit my content. You can find them all over the web.
Just type free html templates or free css templates.
Then I put in my own graphics and stuff. It's not really hard to learn HTML. I really suggest you do it.
You'll need it more than once!

Hello jnoa. Do a google search. You'll find many offers for free web sites. Unfourtnately the site has to be hosted and thats not free. Also the site needs a address / domain name and that's not free either. If your finances are limited try setting up a blog @ Squidoo.com. It will give you a bit of practice with html code and web page design. good luck determined

As a software engineer I can say that the best way to develop a website is to leave it to someone who is a professional.
Your website is a representation of your business and if it looks cheezy people will think youre cheezy or cheap.
There are ways to build a website which you can save money but few people have the skills to do it. While many wont agree having a nice storefront compared to a flea market makes a big difference.

Jnoa, Since you are a newbie and just starting out in website building, My suggestion would be to find a free WYSIWYG editor (what you see is what you get). This is a program that allows you to create by a click and drag process. Some of them even give you the option to switch between that and HTML, so you can see how the coding looks to create the look you just did. This will help you to learn how to create webpages, in both WYSIWYG and HTML in the long run.

Good question,
The first thing you should do when starting an online business is to get a domain name specific to your product or service. This can be done for under $10. a year, and then look for an easy template web site program, also very inexpensive, so in total, you can have a your site up in a matter of an hour or less and for under $100. a year for basic site. GoDaddy is as easy as it gets for all your needs, so check it out, the are largest domain registering company out there.
Success to all, Mike

I created a very decent looking site with Weebly. It's so easy to use. You just drag and drop. You can't do anything crazy unique or complex but it gets the job done for free and is a good way to get started.

That is what i thought about weebly, i have set up 2 sites on weebly using my own domains thru go daddy and my sites are not getting published for some reason... i have sent numerous emails to weebly about this matter for the past week and i have yet to get a response from them. needless to say this left a very bad taste in my mouth about weebly. i am now using BluVoda because it is a lil more fluid and you dont have to jump thru hoops to get support or lack there of i should say..

Sorry to hear you're having problems with Weebly. I've been with them for months now and I've never had any problems publishing or any real problems in which I had to contact support.
I still think it's a good service but it's sad to hear that part of the business might be lacking.
