For dedicated IP, you have a IP address assigned to your website, hosting account . For shared IP , a number of websites have the same IP address.

But whats the benefits of the dedicated IP? Is it better than shared IP? Whats the disadvantage of shared?

Thanks.

In a shared IP, as many websites share the same IP, there is a risk of search engines banning the IP if a website or group of websites belonging to the same IP indulge in non-ethical SEO practices. This is an assumption among SEO experts.

Hi,
Basic difference between dedicated IP and shared IP is that dedicated IP is a specific IP address for a single site only while shared IP is a specific IP address for multiple sites. Like i am using dedicated IP of"drupalvaluehosting.org" for my site which means DVH has allocated a specific IP to my site.

Also, if you are selling from your website, you'll need an SSL certificate, which requires a dedicated IP address.
