Which colour do you prefer for your websites. Personally , I don't prefer dark colour like black. I like light background with dark text.

I like white for the areas that the text will be on, and add color to the banner and page borders.

Black text, white background is the best

Research shows that people can read black text on a white background much easier than any other combination. So use different options sparingly.

Also, if you notice the biggest sites on the Internet (google, nytimes, etc.), they all use black text on a white background - they've obviously done their homework and it supported what typographers have suspected for centuries.

There is often a temptation to be creative and colorful, but in a world where web browsers make split second decisions about whether or not they will stay at a site, you can't risk alienating them by making it difficult to read your copy.

I create a very different look and color combo every time. I've even used red text on a black background just to be rebellious and fun. That one was a Jim Morrison site. I made it in a web coding class. I put a bunch of bells and whistles on it. Fun stuff!

Light colours are best.

Combinations of dark blue, black, grey and white are proven to increase conversion rates. They apparently instill a feeling of trust in the visitor.

I love pastels... anything that's not too bold and annoying.

Sky blue, white, faded greens and purples are lovely :)

If it's ultra-informative and official, obviously black and white never fails

You can have different contrast for your website. But your font must be see-able from your background.
