Link building is the way of the world internet marketing. Traffic doesn't just appear on a new site overnight. You have to do some hard tasks and that mean building valuable back links that point back to your websites. But, IS it necessary to backlink those backlinks to each other or that may seem to be not healthy for your Seo efforts and probably harmful for your websites ranking on the search engine. Done right it can help, done wrong and it will hurt ranking. An example of right: Share or tweet this thread and it creates a link to your backlink. If it goes viral then you will have multiplied your efforts here. The backlink itself won't gain SEO but the content here will. That will boost the value of the page your backlink is on. More readers means more chances you will get clicks.
Great advice Just2EZ. If you manually create a backlink to your backlink to your backlink and so on, search engines would probably see that as spammy and you would not be rewarded.

I wouldn't waste time backlinking backlinks.... It's better if high PR pages link directly back to your page. Just keep in mind 1 important rule: Quality over Quantity.
