Yes. I have been using PayPal for years now and never had a problem. Nothing has ever been withheld or frozen. They take a small portion in transaction fees, but I have never heard of them skimming an account, at least not from the people I know who use it.

Beware of emails claiming to be from Paypal, as with any other online or banking service. If they ask you for account information via email they are not legitimate!

    Hey Friedx,

I got one of those type E-mails and sent it to [email protected] which is their scam investigation division. (You can also go to https://www.paypal.com/ and click on Security Center at the bottom of the page and follow the instructions to report a fraud).

They responded within a couple of hours warning that it (the e-mail) was not one of their's.

I wrote a post that day on my blog warning others of the scam and how to handle it.

If you have any questions, you can always contact PayPal directly, they will respond right away.

    Good Luck,

    Joe

I am also using paypal and never had problem yet, but, I have read at many forums that paypal can freeze account without any reason. I think it happens in case of any fraud or unverified account.

There is actually a full website where people have had problems with Paypal (which I won't mention). Apparently, they tick a lot of people off. Personally, I have never had a problem with them, but there are many people who have...

No problems for me with Paypal.
It enables me to accept Credit Cards online and buy and sell on Ebay.
I suspect that if you read the small print on some of the documents from your bank you'll find that they can also do some of the things listed above under certain conditions.

Paypal does mention in their terms and conditions that you can't use Paypal for home based business opportunities. I use them for one of my businesses and haven't had any problems but personally know of many people who have had their accounts frozen, and it's quite a lengthy procedure to resolve. It's tough not to use them at first, as you will lose some sales if you don't offer either a merchant account or Paypal, because that's what your customers are familiar with. Many companies don't offer their associates the ability to use Paypal because of problems. I think it's okay to use them when you're just getting started, but once you're level of business justifies it, switch to a Merchant account.

PayPal has millions of users around the world. The ones that have never had a problem never make any sort of post about it. It's the ones that have had a dispute with PayPal that are vocal.

I've never had a problem with them and they're my main source of doing e-commerce.

I just resolved a month long issue with PP. Here's the story...
Been using PP for about 6 months now with my eBay biz. No problems until recently I sold an external HD. PP asked for the tracking info, so I gave it to them, as well as the customer. Apparently I fudged the tacking number by one digit. The item arrived in 2 days but PP decided to open up a fraud investigation. How they call it an investigation, I don't know. They never contacted me, never contacted the buyer, but froze the account for 3 weeks or more while "Investigating" I figured the buyer had left me positive feedback, I emailed PP several times and lt them know we were both pleased and would they please unfreeze the funds. After 1 month, and no response from PP, they reversed the payment. I raised hell, and they just yesterday re-reversed the payment. Hopefully it is all over, but I doubt it. You see, the buyer got his money back also, and they haven't taken that back so far so we'll see what happens there. Also, I still haven't been able to get anyone from PP on the phone in over a month who can tell we WTF happened. The regular operators have no access to info on fraud cases, and I asn't ever able to get through to the fraud dept. PP pisses me off to say the least. How the launch an investigation when there is no issue to begin with, is beyond me. On top of that, they never contacted the buyer, nor myslef, to ask questions. Like I said, he left me feedback praising me, days after the transaction, before the investigation even began.

Anyhow, I still use PP because they are so widely known and used but I think they are awful, and when I launch my site, I will truly try to avoid using them.

PayPal is not something I recommend for Home-based business like direct sales etc.

PayPal is well-known for holding merchant's money with no cause. Its not a bank and they aren't obliged to give you your money if they decied you are doing something they don't approve of.

Fine for most Ebay dealings. Don't try to use it to sell Leads however.

I've also been with pay pal for a couple years and it's been fine [IMG]

Unfortunately some people do have a bad experience from time to time, but that's expected.

There are many alternatives to consider if you're not comfortable with PP (1shopping cart, 2checkout etc..)

If you have money in your Paypal account, either withdraw it or spend it, so you will not lose much money if you have a problem
