I haven't tried it yet due to lack of having enough time. I heard it is very time consuming but also very effective. Check out http://forums.digitalpoint.com and search there for Linkwheel and you for sure will find more information.
i've started several link wheel campaigns. You essentially have 5 social media sites pointing to your main site along with a link to the next social media site. You do this until you have a circle with your main site in the middle. it works quite well but not as good as they used to. from what i understand, link wheels leave a footprint, you can eliminate the footpring by leaving the linkwheel open but then it loses some of its effectiveness. It's a bit time consuming but they are still something to consider with your link building plans.
I've tried it for one of my niche site but I don't know if it's responsible for my site landed on the 1st page of Google at #2 spot in just 3 weeks time after I published it.
There are some discussions over at WA ..that point out this may not be such a good idea after all. Time will tell! Victoria
Before (about 6 months ago) the link wheel worked wondrous. It helped many people get the coveted #1 spot on Google. But now Google has become aware of this strategy and now it is not effective anymore and has lost his luster. I would find another ways to boost your rankings.
my colleagues do that SEO strategy. She found Link Wheel much complicated compared to the other SEO strategy but she added that this helps in ranking a site possible to number one rank.
Link wheel is used to produce backlinks to the main page of your site. It is a sure shot way to get better your search engine ranking.
