I have read online of some people buying a website at a fairly cheap price, sprucing it up, somehow driving traffic to it, and then turning around and selling it at a much higher price than the purchase price. Is this legitimate? Is it possible to start small and build up? If someone has a system that does this, is there one that stands out?
I've heard of it being done but I don't have a system for it and I haven't actually done it. It is legitimate though if you can find someone selling a decent site and they are out there. Check the Warrior Forum.
Hi, This kind of activity is called "site flipping" or "website flipping". If you type "site flipping" into your search box, you will find over 4.5 Million results. Most of what you will find, are ebooks and software which may prove to be a waste of your money. There are just a few ingredients involved in site flipping: A facelift...(web design changes) Add more content...quality content is a must...the more the better Add email capture...build a list Add a blog or blogs (traffic and search engines) Add a forum (traffic and search engines) Monetize website(s), blogs, and forums...increase revenue streams Build traffic with paid and/or free methods Flip IT! Do the above to any website, and watch what happens! Much Success, George Pierce
The market is in buying expiring domains with established traffic. Every day thousands of people give up after spending years trying. Think of the links on forums they left, ads they posted, etc. All the traffic they had can be yours for the price of the domain name. At least that's the theory. Re-selling them is another story. p.s. Beware of inflated traffic counts and look for the source. Some unscrupulous dealers buy hits to inflate stats.
Which reminds me, you can buy/sell re-directed traffic from expired sites. That's probably more lucrative than selling the name or site. Those are the bidders who are active buying domains. Flipping them is really a suckers game most the time.
It's site flipping. It can be lucrative if you know what you're doing, but just like anything else, you need to do your research BEFORE buying any sites. The last thing you want is to end up with a website that you can't sell and one that doesn't move any profit. If you're new to it, I'd suggest building up a few sites of your own first. Then, generate some profit from them and flip them. After you get the hang of it, you can start buying sites for cheap and spruce them up, generate MORE money from them and sell them for 2x to 10x+ the price you paid.
