Okay so here is the story. Some of my friends and I have this contest going to see who can get the best PR on Google with their lens in 30 days. So far I have managed to get in the top 100 on Squidoo for the first time ever.
<Snip>
But what I need is some more tips on how to make your lens not good, not great, but EXCELLENT.
I have read all the information and tips in Squidoo and was wondering if anyone else could give me some pointers?
It is the first link in my signature.
Thanx in advance for helping me.

Hi Gridellas,
I interacted with some of your lenses including the one in your sig file. I also joined your fan club. I'm the electric guitar avatar.
I would rename the guestbook module title to something relevant and the text between it and the guestbook textbox.
I would drop a text module between the bonus pics and the Amazon module.
Move the guestbook module to the bottom.
Change the module titled "Website Profit Formula Launches Thursday March 19" to past tense.
Good luck,

I rated it as well - it looks good for information, but maybe add a few more pictures etc, to make it more attractive to folks like me that are 'skim readers' and love photos and 'real people ' stuff.

Hi Gridellas,
I rated, commented and favorited your "real" lens. Congratulations on your top 100 ranking - #67 in Work-at-Home, #5868 overall when I checked on 4/14/09.
Here are some little things you can do to further improve your lens ranking and position yourself to win your contest:
1. You've only used 5 of the 40 keyword tags available. Use them all to improve your reach.
2. Increase the number of inbounds links to your lens. Submitting to other press release distribution sites and writing articles would help.
3. Join the SquidUForum and post in the Critique Me section for feedback from seasoned Squidooers. You might get a blessing from a Squid Angel.
4. You could also check out which Squidoo Groups you could align yourself with for additional exposure.
Hope this helps.

Great lens. I will be rating it shortly.
You can also enter the squidoo lens of the day contest and make sure you participate in all the squidoo groups and discussions to promote your lens.

Great advice! Never thought about the SquidUforum. Ummm 2 questions.
1. How did you find 40 keyword tags? How did you do that? I guess that is one trick I haven't found.
2. Inbound links? They are the links that point to my product?
I sure do appreciate all the support

gridellas: 1. How did you find 40 keyword tags? How did you do that? I guess that is one trick I haven't found. Squidoo allows the use of 40 keyword tags. I simply checked the html source code of your lens to see which keywords you used and how many. You can add many, many more. It helps you to expand your marketing net.
gridellas: 2. Inbound links? They are the links that point to my product? In this case they are the links that point to your lens.

Hermas, Thanx for getting back to me so quick and thanx for your review. But is there a way you can simply describe how you got the html source code for my lens to see which keywords I used and how many?
I went to see if I could find the "source code" and right clicked on my lens and hit the view source and seen all the html but didn't see any tags. Am I close?

No prob on the mix up. It's kinda funny, actually :)
Interesting that the specific lens you asked us to visit also happens to be about "website profit formula" - same affiliate product as the mix up lens. What a coincidence :)
Okay, I visited and interacted with all of your lenses (four at this point in time). I also joined your fan club.
Only tip I can offer is to reduce the number of instances of the affiliate hyperlink. The frequency feels a bit spammy. Consider three occurrences.
Good luck with sales.

1. Right click on your lens and select View Source. 2. Click Edit >> Find.. (I'm assuming your page opens in NotePad)
3. Type <h3>Related Topics</h3> in the textbox next to "Find what:"
4. Check the Down radio button.
5. Click the Find Next button.
The text you typed in the textbox will be located and highlited in the html markup. That's where you'll find the html keyword tags.

A8ch: . You've only used 5 of the 40 keyword tags available Wow that was awesome I am in the learning stages of html. So I need to create up to 35 more revelent keywords? I think I am starting to get this squidoo thing down. One more thing, I heard that using too many keywords will hurt your PR. I would think that 40 is a lot but apparently I am mistaken. How do you know if you use too many? Or is that not including lens?
Newbie Shield: Only tip I can offer is to reduce the number of instances of the affiliate hyperlink. The frequency feels a bit spammy. Consider three occurrences. People have told me to make sure there are plenty of links to make it convenient to click on one. Should I just have only three total or should I make some of those links point to, maybe, some of my articles to get more information about the topic?
The reason why I am asking is because I set all my other lens up following that style and I don't want people to feel pressure to buy but rather enjoy visiting my lens.

gridellas: So I need to create up to 35 more relevant keywords? Yes. The more keyword tags you have, the better your chances of being found in the Squidoo network and in the SERPs.

Okay, I just added 35 more keywords. Boy, that was a task. There at the end I was grasping for keywords. Got it done though. Thanx

Good for you! And one of the great blessings of online marketing is, there are some things you never have to repeat in order to continue reaping the benefits.
You'll never have to do this again... for this lens.

I also went back and added more keywords to my other lens and noticed that once you start typing it pulls up all your other keywords that are similar. Since my lens is revolved one topic then it was easier adding the keywords to all my other ones as well.
