Which Is The Best Traffic Analyzer: Google Analytics, AWstats or Quantcast?

For a few months now, I've been quite comfortable using using Awstats as it came with my web space but due to so many recommendations by gurus, I signed up for google analytics and got a shocker after 1 month. In one month, the amount of unique visitor traffic Google reflected was like a third of what Awstats was reporting. The next month I decided to get a third opinion and signed up for Quantcast. Quantcast showed a little bit above what Awstats was showing me and now I'm really confused as to which traffic analyzer to stick with? Which is more accurate than the other. Any help would be gladly appreciated.

P.S: If you all don't mind, I might be using your comments in a blog post about these three web stats analyzers. I'll definitely give back with a nofollow free link to your blog/website, if I use your comment. Thanks.

I also have the same problem with statcounter and google analytics. Google analytics have less amount of unique visitors as compared to statcounter.

I don't know why it is happening.

When I use Awstats, I tend to pay more attention to the keywords people are typing in to find my site, rather than the number of visitors, because Awstats seems to count visitors from spiders, such as the Google Bot. I think Statcounter is pretty good - probably more accurate than Awstats, because it looks at both unique visitors and the total number of visitors, and it gives you a side by side bar graph so that you can tell the difference.

I prefer using Google Analytics. Since it has many details about your traffic. And I find it more accurate

Google analytics still give the best results because their spiders are much quicker thatn others.

Awstats works off of server logs while Google Analytics is third-party JavaScript (and only counts visitors that have JavaScript enabled by their web browsers). While nearly all web browsers have JavaScript capability, the difference between those who don't and those who do are search engine spiders and other bots which crawl your site.

Your domain stats program is the only source for the raw data.

Google analytics and similar things are not as reliable, though
they do make nice graphs and things if that's your bag.

I'd say take a look at at least 1 server side and 1 external so you get a good average, neither is perfect. I'd say AWstats and Analytics are good bets.

Analytics gives you some pretty and unimportant data, but one of the biggest things that google analytics counts.. conversions and ad dollars.
