Ok let me see if I can explain this, im working on seo for a couple of sites and i was going to submit an article with articlesbase or ezine or both to try to rank higher with google. My question is, does the seo on the article really matter. Im not worried about the article directly driving traffic too much, im more just trying to get good quality backlinks

Just for backlinks it may not matter, but it's still good to consider seo. It can be a simple as having that keyword in your title. Online need it a few spots in the article.

I think you always want to write with SEO in mind... no matter what you write or where you post it. It's the name of the game.
Ezinearticles will get you a bunch of traffic but keep in mind that they only show 1 or 2 ezinearticles on page one for your keyword so absolutely use seo when writing it!

brooklyn00123: My question is, does the seo on the article really matter. Im not worried about the article directly driving traffic too much, im more just trying to get good quality backlinks The ultimate reason you're writing the article is to drive traffic. Since one article can get you traffic via seo, backlinks and authorized republication, why would you choose to focus on backlinks alone? It's like deliberately settling for 30% of something when you could easily be getting 100%, for the same effort.

And now with the new algorithm changes that Google is making I don't think I am gonna waste a lot of time writing articles.
I have spent a few days adding some content to my SBI site and editing it and my traffic took a HUGE leap, so now I don't know if it was just me working on it or if it is a reflection of the changes Google is making...either way, it is all good!

Writing content articles with all the new changes in google no longer work as well using multiple keywords, instead they want fresh informative content in the article revelant to your site.

Honest Income: relevant to your site I wonder how much "relevance" really matters. My articles with the most search traffic have nothing to do with my site keywords. That does not mean you should follow my example and be scattered! UNIQUEness is the difference, not relevance to your other content. Especially now that Google has changed their algorithms again. Give them something no one else is giving them, that's it.

Could someone kinda break it down in easy to understand, simple terms, and without going into a big dialogue over it, what the main changes are that Google is making...?
For the benefit of those that are new to the whole Google thing....

mountainmom5: new to the whole Google thing Matters not if your new or old, the game keeps changing.
Here's the change in a nutshell: "sites which .... copy content from other websites or sites that are just not very useful."
Just2EZ: I wonder how much "relevance" really matters. I just realized what I knew all along - those articles have PHOTOS with keyword tags. Images have always pulled higher search rankings for me than words.

It's as simple as that. Don't overwhelm/complicate yourself. The success of any search engine is determined by the quality of results it provides. Sites/pages that provide quality content are bound to get to the top, no matter what changes search engines make. Because search engines need them!

Thanks Vishal - that's what I thought. So simple... all it takes is a bit of work and effort.

mountainmom5: all it takes is a bit of work and effort ..and patience. It's the lack of patience that drives most of us to do stuff that must happen automatically (get backlinks). Initially it's OK to go for backlinks, but that must not be something you do perennially.
Let nature be your mentor. No matter what you do, you can't have a sapling grow into a tree and give you fruits in few months. Your effort is only limited to watering it and providing it with manure. The rest is taken care by the nature.

I am signing off my pc now and gonna go get me a good night's sleep while 'nature takes it's course' on my websites!

We've all heard these expressions before: "Patience is a virtue." "Nothing happens before its time." "There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens."
But our ego-driven arrogance often misleads us into believing that we can influence nature's timetable and have her deliver results on our schedule. That's usually a recipe for frustration and disappointment because we waste energy working against the grain.
If we would simply embrace the laws of nature and work in harmony with them, we would be able to manifest any dream into physical form, in a seemingly effortless way. Every thing we touch would "turn to gold."
Vedic science refers to this as the Law of Least Effort. In practical terms it means we simply need to get in step with the dance of nature, do our part, and trust that the rest will take care of itself when the time is right. Sufficient is enough!
It can pave the way to a quality of life that is truly fulfilling, abundant and free of stress.

well you will certainly get the quality backlink if that is all you're looking for. Ping it as soon as it gets live.
But if its not well optimized your article will fade into obscurity when better ones show up. To maintain this quality backlink think long term and do your seo properly.
