Berni,
You are absolutely right no one is bashing West when expressing our experiences and opinions seems like others have a problem with that or are too busy not coming out of a tunnel vision. This is not an opinion is simply the truth if you are only working with the DR SKILL then yes you will be experiencing downside for a while. As I mentioned above several times and no one seems to get it...lets talk truth hey that's what this forum is all about...In case others did not know Convergys HIRED DR AND now they are hiring employees to work for the DR skill. I know cause I was offered the job and I declined it because I am aware of what is going on. DR is getting very slick by hiring 2-3 companies so, they can reduce the min per rate to everyone. HELLO guys I'm not bashing West for godsake I too work for them but I declined both offers from both WEST/CONVERGYS because I knew what was coming and I was right if you have all noticed DR have minimized the hrs and pay lately. SO I hope this message brings light to all...really the intend is not negative at all. VERY BRIEFLY, jajmj get over it no one is knocking West if you can't take the truth and see through our eyes then I suggest not to respond to our questions. Thanks Berni for yoiur comments I do appreciate what you are saying and can empathize what you are going through...good luck and keep us posted. k..

Hey cristyb. The Western Union was not a work at home job. I did that work through a local Agies here in Joplin Mo. If it was a work at home I would have never left it. Lol! Worst experince I had there was when someone got upset because I could only give them the address to nearest Western Union somewhere in Africa and not directions.

In regards to some of the other post going on here , I realy wish everyone could get along. I am pretty new here and don't want to overstep my boundries and anger anyone. I like you all and have got helpfull info from you all. I mean for me the DR skill is fine right now when I am a full time homemaker just needing to make a little extra cash to help with say the extra gas prices and a full time job is not a posibilty for me right now. The .15 per min is a lot more than we make for minimum wage here in these parts.
I guess all I am trying to say is can't we all just get along!

Maybe reading what I wrote before telling me to "get over it" - would be most helpful to you. I was referring to the following post - "Then, I get a call a few days ago, saying that they never recieved my work ID papers and notarized work authorization, all the stuff that you have to do in the beginning. OMG I have been working for West since September, and they just found that out now? Which, isn't even true, because I sent it all by mail, by fax and by email in the beginning. When I called HR they swore they never got any of it!! I know I sent it, you have to give that stuff at any job." and as far as tunnel vision goes - "hello kettle - this is the pot - you're black!" and maybe you should follow your OWN advise - we're on here to post opinions - correct? Last time I checked - THAT WAS MY OPINION. You don't have to respond to mine - I will survive without your double standards!

jajmj,
Nevermind the comeback it wasn't recieved! all I'm saying is sometimes opinions can be cloudy seems to me yours is just that cloudy...anyway let's move on k.... life is too short and last wrds are really just that last words. Anyway good luck to you and your future endeavors and if I came across a little too strong and hit a nerve than I apologize. however, let me just respond to your comment! I'M no kettle and whatever you meant of a pot and black is a remark I don't understand forgive me but I'm not from your parts. and what you said makes no sense to me. anyway I DON'T rely on peoples opinions I do however, take them in conderation and try to empathize before I POST comments. Not saying you aren't so don't go taking what I'm saying wrong again. k....LET'S not go into the tunnel vision and I hope it gets better after this.

NP! Glad to help someone else out! I am usually the one needing help.

Oh and congrats georgiagin, I haven't had any for mop yet. Are there a lot of upsells on that one?

A tip for fellow DR coworkers....

I work late nights and early morning hours for West and during those time frames I always seem to get at least one prank call. I've found out that for those people who want to 'just talk' and/or do other things, when I ask them to 'Please hold' they hang up. Since we can't hang up on people this has seemed to work like a charm. The first time it happened my intention was to call a pal to ask how long I'd have to keep this person on the phone. When I clicked call a pal, the guy hung up. Ever since then when I realize that it's a prank, I simply say 'Please hold' and it never fails, they hang up.

Have you never heard the saying, "that's the pot calling the kettle black!" meaning you are saying something that you are guilty of yourself. Not from "my parts" - what the heck?

Hit a nerve? Not so much. Fortunately I have learned through life experiences that if I don't know you and / or you don't have a direct impact on my life - then I could pretty much care less what you think or say!

Have a good one!

Ok, I wasn't trying to start a fight or sling mud. Jajmj, the comment you were referring to was mine. I know what I have done to comply with West as far as paper work. Its not my fault that they converted contracters to employees and cant keep track of the paperwork they are legally bound to keep. I know I sent them all they needed when I started in September, its the law.

All I said was because of them letting good employees such as myself fall through their cracks, and the lack of hours, I was in no hurry to resend my paper work to them. I stated that I am choosing to look for an alternate hourly wage job to supplement my other work at home job. Now, if you would like to continue to comment negatively on my posts I invite you to do so, by sending me a private message. I do not intend to not get along, but some people may not always agree with me and that is fine I respect that. But if you have to get mean with my post then do so to me privately so that others who are here to learn and share dont have to read it. This forum is here to help people by sharing knowledge and experience. Not to bash anyone or any company. This forum can be a great source of knowledge and as they say knowledge is power. If you read this post way back to the original page one there is a lot of fact about West and most questions are answered at some place in the 16 or so pages. It helped me alot, and it can help others.

Thanks rsoler for reading and understanding my post. I believe that working at home can be a good thing, and it fills different needs for different people and because we are all different, we go about achieving sucess with it differently. I wish all WAH people the best!!!!!!!

Can someone tell me why we need a business account for our internet to work at home? all of the employers say that you need to have at least 2 ip addresses, why? and how will they know if you do not have it?

Hi cristyb!
I don't know why some tell you that you need a business account. But west did not tell me that. Just that pc must meet requirements and although it is not a must a second phone line just for work is a good idea.

Well I just worked my first shift for D*L and I must say I was so nervous the first few calls, those poor callers! But I am definitely getting the hang of it now and I absolutely love it!

Hi ladyathome!
That is how I was for my first shift. I even said dpd instead of dvd. How long of a shift did you start with? I kept mine to a 30 min and still have not worked more than a hour shift in one setting. I find it gets a bit easier each time. And every now and then I get one call that is just not a good one. Hard to understand or angry with me about the upsells, but most are okay. I seem to get a lot of calls that they just ask questions. Is that normal? And I still am not sure how they expect you to get familiar with all the products they offer when you can only view them when you are scheduled to work so I am just learning them as the customers ask too.

the water mop has a few upsells and depending on the area, the usual magazine offers and savings club. But I'm doing ok on it. I also enjoy the yahoo group for the West Employees...and I've been glad a few have added me to their yahoo lists. Makes me feel like i have co-workers.

I'm mostly working mid mornings...730-11am ...with the occassional earlier or evening shift. I too started with 1/2 hour... i like those..they go by so fast. But Monday I did 4 hours in a row...My butt was tired when I got done!! LOL>

Lol!
Most of mine have been scattered through the weekend.
I was not even aware that yahoo had a group for west employees.
