Hi all,
I just wanted to give you guys an update on the blessing of West. Mine is twofold right now. First, last week my daughter got really sick, (strep throat and a bad flu/cold virus is going around). The nite she became ill, I was working. I was able to finish out the half hour block I was in and post the rest of my shift for trade. Other agents picked up my blocks so I was able to spend the time caring for her. I was able to work the next day as she slept. The very next day I was just as sick as she was. I was very worried about my shifts, but as before, I posted them for trade. So it goes all week long. I was so afraid that I would lose my job. But as it turns out, all of the shifts that I posted for trade (about 20 hours)were picked up. That meant I could recover and not lose any points on my schedule adherence. That was such a relief. I am finally feeling better and able to work. So tonight when I logged in I wanted to double check my performance, which was fine. I also looked at my pay period summary and to my surprise, I received a training bonus! It appears that I did my training during a hiring bonus time. What a blessing, that bonus will help to make up for the week I was sick. I hope this helps put West out on this forum as a legit company. Thanks for letting me share my good news

rsoler,
Why do you think a landline phone is required if the job works with Vonage? I don't want to have to pay for Vonage as well as a landline phone and Vonage is so much cheaper!! I don't know what to do about that. Do you need to have long distance on your phone for this job? Thanks so much for the help!

Hello,
I was recently hired as a west at home agent and I completed my training for Direct Response on Jan 13th. I was supposed to get my first paycheck direct deposited into my account today for my training but so far it's not showing in my bank account. When I check the status of my direct deposit there is a note at the bottom saying they do a test deposit first, but it's showing an "active" status.
I was wondering if anyone had a similar situation when they started with West, and if so, how long it took them before they got paid??
Also, has anyone had a trouble with finding available shifts to pick up for Direct Response with West?
When I looked under trade shifts there was very limited opening and it was only for this morning. There was nothing for the rest of the week.
Thanks in advance!

chamner04 Hi, Just wanted to let you know that my very first check was a paper check, and it was in the mail, on the pay date or maybe one day after. I think my bank took longer to process the direct deposit than expected. But after that my checks have been direct deposit no problem.
I have noticed that there are fewer hours available, but you have to keep checking, i think people grab a bunch and then release what they don't want. I don't know why that is, but I check it often and pick up whatever i find available.

Lillisa,
I don't know why that is but West told me vonage was not an option....and no you do not need long distance because you do not need to make outbound calls. hope this help

chamner04, Hi again. On the employee website, under the pay information tab, there is a list of pay dates. You will notice, that today is the actual pay date. And since today is a bank holiday, that may be why late. Dont worry you will get paid.

Hi Everyone,

I worked for west Jan 05 to June 07. I left when we lost the Cricket contract and I had HSN but the calls were slow. Now I reapplied and informed them I was a prior agent and I got the infamous email that I was hired. I didn't know I had to physically mail the notorized forms but instend to tomorrow. As far as this company called Arise I will check out for an alternate. I am going to be going to medical coding school where I will make $35 an hour as a remote coder so this will get me by til June when I finish. Thanks for the heads up on the improvement with the employee vs contractor part of West, I was a little weary about returning.

Hi all! I like to share my experience with Arise I DID apply last year before I was hired by West...AND it was nightmare for me although I HAD passed the 101 and went through all the steps required and passed they never contacted me not even the courtesy to let me know after all the work I went through that was the definite drawline for me. I immediately retrieve and did not even try to contact them for feedback. I figured if they would be that irresponsible and sloppy with administration imagine when I would get hire. anyway, that was just my experience not everyone I JUST THOUGHT I give all a heads up before venturing to Arise. I also have a freind (the one that refer me to arise) that was hired by them she work as a independent contractor for about 5months she had the Times Magazine Contract well it so turned out she also encounter problems after her 4th month with them. Apparently, she told me Arise had made quite a few mistakes with her paystubs according to her pay was not accurate and when she tried to dispute it they totally ignored her and told her that the computer rating or whatever does not lie. that's when she said goodbye and decided to apply WITH West but sadly, for her she failed the contract and is now awaiting for another opportunity at West. I hope this info will help some

Hi everyone!
I was wondering if anybody on here working for West lives in Tennessee? Also, I think I read this somewhere but want to make sure that this job does not involve making sales calls, it's only answering customer service calls right? There were a lot several questions on the application about sales calls....
Thanks for your response

hi everyone!
so i had my first shift with west today. i decided to do just a 1/2 hr shift at first to start off. i was so completely nervous, there were a few times where i messed up on the script and i got a little during the whole order taking process and upsells. Does anyone know if West gives you the benefit of the doubt during the first few shifts you work, seeing as your new? i mean, i know we have to read the script verbatum, but they don't expect you to get through the call perfectly on your first shift ever do they?
i hope this gets easier as i continue to do it.

Are people on the forum working for West, etc. because they want a J.O.B. or because they have been able to find that profitable home business that will make them money. Doesn't seem like West, etc. are going to deliver any serious or reasonable income for a person to live off of.

No, we do not make millions working at west but they told us that at the beginning of our application process too. It is an honest second income if necessary also though, it also depends on projects, hours and etc. Because I have heard where alot of people claimed to make alot of money. I am only looking to make second income my husbands business pays the bills and more.

chammer04 to your questions, yes west allows you some time prior to your first monitor. They understand the difficulty of training from home to do your job. Also, as you take more calls it will get easier trust me. Also, no one is perfect and we all will make a mistake here and there but you would too if you were working outside of your home. Just relax and enjoy. I am sure you did great on your first shift and you are just being hard on yourself. Take care.

steph,
How long have you been working for West. I am on my last module for Sears repair. I must say I am kind of nervous once I actually start taking calls.
