My son is looking at getting started with either ytb or traverus. He is in college and would be working around that but could get started this summer..

I didn't know if this should go in the ytb forum or the traverus forum as I want a balanced answer - so thought I'd put it in here once and see what happens..

A couple questions:
What are some of the main differences between ytb and Traverus?
He is in CA and with ytb there are certain stipulations on the state of CA - is it same with Traverus?

I noticed with ytb the cost is more to get started but then you get more commissions as you build your team... with Traverus the cost is less and the commissions are more low key - do they balance out to be about the same?

Thanks to anyone that can help us out!

I don't know anything personally about either one of them...but...

I have a friend in YTB and she found out that you are not allowed to work any other program while in YTB. She wanted to add Coastal and she was not able to because of that. I'm not sure if it is just a travel related thing or if it covers all businesses in general or if that would even matter to him.

Did that make any sense at all?

It does - and you know what... I think if I remember right, they also have in their deal that no one in the immediate family can be in another business from home. Thanks for that reminder, Lora!

Not a problem! Never heard of that one, sounds a little extreme to me!

Although when in Traverus you cannot work with a direct competitor whilst with them you can work another business as well.
I know a couple of ladies who work Traverus as well as GRN.
In the travel arena but two different fields/product type.

Traverus has the best compensation plan in the industry.
We get paid weekly and monthly.
Sponsor 3 and your residuals kick in.
We have coded bonuses, fast start bonuses and a host of benefits designed to help agents build their businesses to full potential.

The commissions for booking travel are higher at the CTA level, and also worth noting is that you take your CTA test through back office and you are issued your CTA card 90 days after, not before.
This is simply to stop people joining and abusing the system,i.e just to get the cards and who have no intentions of building a business.

As far as I am aware there is no stipulations regarding working with Traverus in California.
I would be happy to check on that further for you if you wish.

We have agents in 96+ countries and growing , a new robust booking engine for our clients and continual training and resources constantly open to us.

With YTB you cannot book with Royal Carribean and Traverus members can. I am not sure if this has changed yet. In Traverus when sign up three people you start earning your residual income it takes 6 people in YTB to start earning.

I noticed with ytb the cost is more to get started but then you get more commissions as you build your team... with Traverus the cost is less and the commissions are more low key - do they balance out to be about the same?

Traverus has the best compensation plan avaliable and one of our top sellers has a 50,000.00 guarentee that if you find something better than he wants to see it. Here is just a little bit to show you if you enroll 3 people for 3 levels in YTB your earnings are 0 in Traverus you earn at this same level $464. I hope this helps you Please let me know if you have any more questions i would be glad to answer them. I can be reached at [email protected]

Thanks to anyone that can help us out!

Good question about the differences between YTB and Traverus. I was first introduced to YTB. In my research of YTB, I came across Traverus. My research helped me conclude that Traverus was the better option for me.

Here are some notable differences...
YTB has CLIA and ARC accreditation, but no IATAN due to being revoked
Traverus has CLIA, ARC and IATAN

Lower start-up cost with Traverus

Higher % of travel commission with Traverus

YTB is a public company which means that they are required to share financial info...one of the most important pieces to me was the info found in their earnings report... In 2007 over 80% of YTB reps made...$0...zilch for the year.

When I looked at Traverus...and knowing that the average person in network marketing will recruit 3 people...With the compensation plan in Traverus, my first 6 people do not disappear and get passed up to my sponsor. I can recruit 3 people...teach them to do the same and so on...I have residual income EVERY month!

I'll be happy to answer any other questions as best I can.

I and my team have taken to calling Traverus...the smart and profitable alternative to YTB and YTB Canada

There seems to be some confusion about the Traverus residual payout(3x9 matrix). You only have to have 1 personally sponsored member to start getting paid on the matrix. This is huge because if you have spillover from your sponsor or people below them this means monthly cash for you.

You really can't go wrong with either opportunity. I made my decision and am very happy with it. Either one, you will get out of it what you put into it.

Hello! I researched several different companies before I chose traverus to add to my existing home based business!! I was looking for a company I'd be proud to be associated with, longevity, pay plan, etc., etc. There's a sign up special until midnight tonight!!! If you need info, send me a pm. I'll be glad to help.

Yes, Becky, I did - thanks everyone for the pms and info you shared....I am passing everything on to my son. Ultimately it will be his decision. He knew that I 'hung out' on the forums a lot so wanted me to find out what I could on the differences...

And I appreciate being able to get this information without everyone slamming the other - proof once again of the awesome forum we have here!

I get confused with all the different comp plans myself but I do know this, that if a person just simply WORKS their business, regardless if they understand it or not, they will make money!

One thing to add...
And this was JUST announced...

TraVerus is now the ONLY travel agency that is a certified provider of exclusive trips to China where people can meet Chinese leaders from the 32 Provinces in China.

TraVerus will be the only travel agency featured on 5CTV (5 Continents TV), which is owned by Bill Campbell owner of the Discovery Network.

Celebrity, John O'Hurley, will be the spokesman for 5CTV. He is already a TraVerus member and spokesman.

By partnering with 5CTV, TraVerus has built immediate credibility in the Travel and Network Marketing industries.

There are 1.7 Billion people in China.

TraVerus will be the only Network Marketing company in China. There are already 50 Million prospects in line to join TraVerus.

Due to the 3x9 Matrix and spill-over, everyone with TraVerus will benefit tremendously.

Get your position with TraVerus now. $99.95 is a small investment when you can earn 6 figures per year within 12 months.

Don't waste your money if your looking to book travel, work with a host agency, where you can actual book travel instead of selling websites. You may want to do your homework to see if you can actualy book travel in your state. I was with Traverus for several months and found out that I wasn't aloud to book travel in my state. Also through the host agency I work with there is no fees or money to sign up.

That is more to do with MLM laws that exist within certain states in America though.
Any company which incorporates an MLM payplan you will find that certain US states prohibit.

hi jeannine! i read all your post started January of this year. At first you were so delighted with Traverus Travel but on your last post, it seems you are disappointed and discontinued your membership? Im planning to sign up but im having a second thought because I want to focus on selling travels than recruiting people to sign up. I knew several people who frequently has business travel and some who would go to other countries for long months vacation. Those are my target but I won't be successfull if the prices that Traverus wont at least match the other travel sites (BT-Store, orbitz etc.)

May i know what host agency you work with now? You mentioned that there is no fees or money involve to sign up. Is their prices competitive? Thanks and have a nice day!
