If anyone is thinking of using Squidoo as a marketing platform you need to check this out.
Most of you will have heard of Squidoo lenses by now. Some of you may be using them already. They are free and very easy to set-up.
But like anything, making them really effective for your marketing efforts requires some guidance and top tips.
There are loads of guides out there but they just focus on the basic set up stuff. I mean, they are helpful but I was looking for more than that.
Well, Bingo!! A Squid expert buddy of mine at WA,name of Kelly, has come up with a great guide bang on cue!
It's called Squidoo Queen.
Let me tell you about it...
First, what it is not. This is not a guide on how to set up a Squidoo lens. Those are ten a penny and not worth paying a cent for. (The help available within Squidoo itself is all you'll need for
that anyway.)
This is a guide on how to use Squidoo lenses for marketing.
And it covers all the bases...
How to combine using Squidoo with article marketing, how to keep your lens fresh and ranked highly in Google, using a lens for list building and there are many advanced techniques including using multiple accounts in Squidoo and how best to use tags.

I Know some people having success with there squidoo lenses. I never heard of the Squidoo Queen. I have to look.

Squidoo actually has an Alexa Traffic Rank of 663, which is very high, so it makes a nice place to submit articles.

I have a few lenses, but they don't seem to get traffic. Squidoo does really well in the search engines.

I think Squidoo has a lot of potential in it. I have never heard of Squidoo Queen. I should search for it now.

I apologize for anyone who clicked on my write4bucks link on squidoo and saw my monetary claims. There was a typo that stated I made $61,000 in a matter of months. I did not. It was supposed to say $1,000.

Yeah, Squidoo is a great way to go.
And Squidoo Queen is a great guide.

I doubt they would tell you and like a lot of things in IM could you really believe any claims anyway.
With Squidoo though, you do get two routes to earn money. Your share of the overall Squidoo advertiding revenue pot which depends on your lens rank, number of visits, click throughs to Amazon, Ebay, etc.
Or directly from placing affiliate links on your lenses.
It really is becoming mega popular at the moment.

I have been struggling whether or not to participate in squidoo for exposures. Seems like it requires a high amount of commitment to make it work, not sure that's what I can cope with for now. I always feel a productive blogger (2-3 posts a day) will have an edge over this service, if quality is no question for him/her. Some opinions?
How would you compare guest posting vs. squidoo instead, despite of the traffic differences, that is? Is it similar to article marketing?

I too had made lenses in Squidoo on different themes but the traffic was very low.It is hard to earn any substantial income in that forum.
But the plus point is it is very much loved by google,and you can promote your affiliate programs and products if you know well the tricks of the online marketing.

Here are some numbers on one of my websites... I have not done anything with the Squidoo sites for months and they are still directing very targeted traffic to my website.
I would highly suggest using the OWM guide to effectively use Squidoo.

If you know how SEO works squidoo can be a very useful platform to feed back into your main site. Its free so why not!!

I absolutely love Squidoo. Many people prefer HubPages because they seem to rank better, but I like Squidoo. The reason is that they have lots of great modules you can use to make a real handsome landing page.
I've found that I get far more leads and sales from Squidoo than HubPages.

Thanks for sharing the product Dave, I'll give it a look.
Squidoo does well in search engines. Include keyword rich mods and plenty of bright, shiny pictures with your lens. Try to focus on a topic which isn't hyper-competitive.
I wrote a lens about a book describing prosperity lessons taught in the Bible. It ranked right below Amazon's results on the first page of google within a few weeks. It wasn't competitive but I had no idea how to use SEO, keywords, etc and still ranked right at the top quickly.
One note: squidoo is more strict with lenses which they allow these days. Before publishing check out their guidelines to save yourself some time.
