wrlawrence, I have done a little more research on the subject and I wanted to share with you that I did find out that because the "Avon" name is copywrited, it does say that you cannot create a URL with avon in the name. You can however create one with your own name, followed by your title as an Avon Independant Sales Rep. I guess in this day and age, everything has to be technical, because the word "Avon" is a trademark. So, they suggest promoting yourself personally and using your title instead.

Does that make sense?

I wanted to post an update... I got a $30.00 check in the mail for my first enrollment, and my last order was my biggest yet!!! And just this past week I have enrolled another person and that person already has someone enrolling under her this coming week! I cannot begin to tell you how good it feels to finally see some results!

I have heard, even on this site, how it doesn't matter your company or product, that it is the person branding themselves, but I must disagree! I do agree that it is important to brand yourself, but In my experience, with all the other things I tried on the net to make money, I did find a little success, but then it always just seemed to die (nothing I did or did not do right) so that means that it isn't just YOU, it is in fact the company that you promote and represent. YAY FOR AVON!!!

Hi Julsy,

I have been doing internet marketing for some time. A friend talked me into signing up for Avon so that I could help him generate more leads. I have enjoyed hearing about your experiences. I also live in in North Carolina in the Triangle area. Keep writing.

Also, about how much time do you spend on your business and how much of that time is face-to-face with your customers and prospects?

Do you have any really effective strategies for generating new leads?

So I just filled out an online form and I'm waiting for an Avon representative to contact me. We'll see how this goes. I was always interested in selling Avon products but was either too young or too busy. =) Now it's time.

Sorry Marcia, for some reason I didn't get an e-mail about having a new comment on here and haven't checked in here in a while. I actually spend very little time. Although, I do like to talk and have one customer that likes for me to come in and sit down for a bit everytime i deliver her order. Other than that, my time is mostly spent just dropping off brochures and also making phone calls the day before, or the day I am getting ready to order. These follow-up calls are so important. I have doubled my sales just from making follow-up calls. Never think that because you didn't get a call to you that your customers didn't want anything. People get busy and even sometimes intend to call and either forget, or just don't get around to it. Plus, even if they really don't want anything, they always appreciate you taking the time to call and check. This is part of the personal touch that most people still really like.

As for new leads, my best efforts have been made by getting a Dr's office and a beauty shop loyal to buying from me. Businesses are a great way to get multiple sales in one location. It works really well! I am also addicted to the reality TV show Big Brother, and watch the online live feeds everyday. Well these live feeds have chatrooms for people to talk about everything going on in the Big Brother house. Well, I have taken advantage of this opportunity while I am talking to lots of people online everyday to let them all know that I am an Avon lady and bring up the subject of Avon anytime that I can. I am always on there telling them about really good deals going on, and have gotten some really good eRep sales through my site this way.

Anyway, this is just a few things that are working really well for me!

Lenka, have you been contacted and enrolled yet? If not, you can enroll online, I would be glad to help you out with this.

Yes, I've been contacted and became an Avon Rep and today I received my first packages filled with cosmetics that I ordered for myself and couple of my new customers. It's so exciting Thanks for sharing all the useful tips!

I love that you created a work at home forum to discuss your Avon business. Found the forum quite by accident. I am also an Avon Rep in NYC. Since I do not get around much due to health problems, I opted to become an eRepresentative. I sell mostly online and I am loving it. I've been an Avon customer since my teen years and only this summer decided to sell it myself. So far so good. I am one of their biggest fans and I know your customers will become huge fans as well. As you know, this is not the Avon of old honey, they have exciting items like the new MinoHD flip camera, jewelry, clothing, award winning skincare products and so much more. Good luck with your business and have fun.

This all sounds great! I may have to look into this, either for my wife or myself I have no shame in being one of the men selling Avon!

I work full time with a telephone company installing and repairing telephone lines and adsl. I run into many customers every day, so I am definately out there to market the brand, although my company would probably frown upon me selling on their dime. I would have to be very creative...hmmmm

wittymamma, congrats on getting going and being successful so quickly! Selling online could not be easier with Avon that is for sure! Keep us up on how it is going and how you are marketing to get your online sales, so we can all help each other.

mrbillydee, as long as your other company has no issue with you handing out brochures or even just an Avon business card with your website on it, that alone would work very well! You can make follow-up phone calls from home after customers have had a chance to check out your site or look through the brochures. You and your wife could collectively do it together, maybe you get the contacts and she do the ordering or follow-up calls etc. That is the beauty of Avon, it is your business to run pretty much however you want.

As for me, I have been able to get 2 Dr's offices to allow me to service them and it is a total win/win! Multiple customers at one location and the calls just come pouring in after you make one trip to take them brochures every 2 weeks! The ladies even fight over the brochures if i don't take enough at one time. I even have some of them ordering for themselves online and having it sent to me to deliver, it is always free that way, then there are others who wish to pay at the time they order online and have it shipped direct to their home. Doing this is always only a $2.99 shipping fee (if in the US) and any order above $30.00 is always free shipping!

So, I can honestly say that I am still loving using and selling Avon!

Really glad to hear of your success, and more importantly, that YOU ARE ENJOYING IT!! That's the best thing in the world is making money and having fun doing it.

Not a bad idea at all working collaboratively with my wife. I have MUCH more customer service experience from my job, but I think people would respond to her better as she could actually give advice on products and be better answering questions. I know nothing at all about makeup.

Quick question, Avon doesn't do "parties" like Tupperware or Pampered Chef, do they?

You can absolutely do parties with Avon and many reps do so. But unlike other companies, parties are not required. Avon has everything you need to do parties if you so choose. It can be a great way to get customers and big sales!

I am so excited to announce that Avon has partnered with a baby brand that has been a huge hit with Hollywood mommies such as Angelina Jolie! The new line is called Tiny Tillia and they are having a baby contest to get things started, so if you know anyone with a baby, they are giving away a $5000 savings bond!

http://www.tinytillia.com

Also what are you Avon reps doing to promote TinyTillia... please share!

I also wanted to say HAPPY ANNIVERSARY to AVON! Officially 125 Years Old! For those of you who love Avon, they are having oodles of Anniversary specials as well as a special celebration collection of $125.00 worth of products for $25.00. This is truly the best deal I have ever seen since I have been with the company. So, for all you reps out there, take advantage of such a great deal to lure in those customers. Just to share what I have done that is working... I have not handed out one single Camp. 9 brochure that I haven't opened the front flap and showed them the special deal and told them what an amazing deal it is and that the Anew eye cream duo system alone is worth the $25.00 and that the Luminosity Pro alone is $54.00! Just by doing this on my errands yesterday, I sold 5 sets!

Any other ideas??? What is working for you?

I have tried Avon in the past, but the earnings were a joke. I know people who have success in Avon, but it is just not for me. I am not passionate about selling beauty products.

Kailo, you are right in that you should absolutely love the products yourself in order to sell and promote any business. That is a huge key to success. You do earn a percentage in Avon according to your sales totals, but a good thing is that if you can get past the $10,000 in sales mark, you make an automatic 40% earnings for the next entire year. Also, if you go into leadership and recruit other reps that can double your earnings. Recruiting bonuses are really good, plus the percent you make from everyone that you bring in and train. The possiblilites are there, but again, it is a MUST to completly use the products yourself and love them before even trying to get others to do the same.

I just joined Avon but I want to sell mostly online. Do you actually go door-to-door or do you put business cards on cars to get local business? Maybe I could put a small classified ad in the local paper. We now get a town weekly paper. I'm big into network marketing though and would like to build this, with my other MLM, Melaleuca, online.

I have the same setup with Tupperware and working with my fiancee. She knows the business inside and out as she used to do it back in the 80's & 90's and her parents had a Tupperware distributorship. I recently talked her into getting back into it and in the past 2 months we have built it up to a lucrative part time business and by the end of this year it will definately be great fulltime paying business.

To comment on your other post about "parties". What i have found is that face to face selling yields the best results. For us 99% of our sales are at parties. Every party we host we get 2-3+ more parties and so on. We are booked every weekend this month and the 1st 3 weekends into June. We try to avoid weeknight parties cause my finacee works during the day but we will be adding a few here and there, as needed.

Avon doesn't really have parties though do they? Would I have to go door to door to find people to sell to? I'm going to be contacting my friends and family too.
