I'm not a member of PL, BUT I'll answer your question. AVOID Adwords since it cost money and has a huge learning curve. PL should have some tutorials on article marketing - submit articles to Ezines and places like Squidoo and Hub Pages. I hope this helps...

I've made a good deal of money using Adwords.

I also lost a lot of money with Adwords.

The difference?

Knowing what to do and what not to do. When you're new you
don't you know nothing so that is good advice. Adwords can be a
great way of generating targeted traffic ready to buy what you have
to offer.

Many people are scared of using this method as a way of generating
massive traffic so they try free ways. There's nothing wrong with
doing writing articles and creating free pages and such. They too
can be great at generating traffic but in terms of numbers and time,
you're not likely to get a lot of people in a relatively short amount of
time compared with what you can do with Adwords.

That's why you see people making $10,000+ each month and
spending half of that or whatever on Adwords. In a sense, they
would rather spend $5000 to make $10,000 ($5000 profits) each
month than to spend nothing to get a sale here and there. Of
course, if you're an expert article marketer you could make a good
deal of money also. The numbers are for illustrative purposes only.

If you're doing article marketing, the key is to get your pages ranked
high for whatever keyword terms you're going after.

Personally at an early stage i would have to agree with getagrip, i seen many poeple lose money when using adwords because they are unsure how to effectively use it to get traffic so for now i would stay away.

If you want free methods either set up a blog or a squidoo lense, post regularly to this with original content and monetize it. You can then implement the free traffic generation methods.

Doing this way you should learn a lot and be prepared to make a few mistakes i did when i first started and i am sure others did to.

On that note, for people who decide to give Adwords a shot, the best advice I can give to you would be to watch your campaigns very closely - hour by hour in the beginning. Like Hemjoe said, SO many people lose money because they don't know when to pull the plug because they keep hoping for a sale. I'd suggest pausing your Adwords campaign when your PPC costs to run that ad are equal to your commission.

So...if your commission is going to be $50, and your advertising costs reach $50 but you don't have any sales, I'd pause your campaign. Some people won't pause their campaigns until its too late - like when they have $500 in ad costs without any sales!

Having said that, here are some tips about Adwords, but I wouldn't recommend Adwords until you have had some success with the free methods:
