I don't have the time to sign up to dozends of different survey panels. At the moment I just try out surveysavvy. It seems to be one of the best survey sites out there. But time will show.

I'm sorry but I can't get excited over $3.
I couldn't believe it when I saw this forum had a section on paid surveys after not allowing any posts (let alone a section) on paid to click ads.
You can probably make a lot more, a lot easier getting paid to click ads but it's still not worth wasting your time. I applaud the forum for not allowing paid to click conversation and I think they should do the same for paid surveys.
When newbies look into making money on the 'net these are basic traps they waste their time in and end up getting discouraged and quitting. And while I"m not into censorship, I like that this forum set up parameters which disallow paid to click recommendations because those conversations would legitimize sites that waste your time, and the forum is about helping you to actually make money.
By and large, the only way to make money (other than the $3 check here and there) with paid surveys is to sell ebooks allegedly teaching how to make money with paid surveys, or getting into CPA, cost per action marketing, where paid survey companies will pay you for every victim, I mean person you get to register with their company.
If you think you're going to make even a semi significant income by giving your opinion, chances are you are going to be extremely disappointed
These operations are ways for companies to spam you with your permission. They are hoping to sell to you; not get your opinion. Think of the door to door salesman who tells the housewife he just needs the practice giving demonstrations and would she mind giving her opinion regarding his demonstration (as if he's not trying to sell her.)
My advice is learn basic skills like list building by making squeeze pages and giving away free value, or like article marketing, keyword research.
I spent almost 3 years trying clicks to get paid, traffic exchanges, chasing paid surveys, free trial offers and every excuse not to learn the basic skills needed.
The bad news is it can take months before you start seeing money roll in. The good news is if you stick with it, taking daily action, you can make job replacing income, guaranteed, no doubts about it.
And that is the trick. People are suckered into getting excited over $3 checks, instead of being willing to work for a couple months without seeing a penny, but building a foundation for real money for the rest of their lives.
And if I could figure out how to start a new thread, I'd post this same message so more people can see it.
Btw, of the methods I mentioned, the one way to make some actual spending money is with trial offers. But programs like Project Payday exaggerate the amount of money you can make and the amount of time and effort it takes. Plus they don't warn you about the financial ruin you can bring on yourself if you don't keep good records and cancel your orders in time.
So while you can do better than paid surveys or paid to click ads or read emails, it's still large a waste to time if it is preventing you from learning skills.

Hey cosmics1979,
With gun to head if I had to recommend a survey site to others, that is the one, surveysavvy, that I would choose.
Why?
They don't mislead you to believe that a higher paying survey is around the corner. They pretty much tell you that you might average $3 per survey and that they are time consuming surveys and that there are not that many.
They don't force you to give them permission to spam you and sell your info to list brokers which then cause an avalanche of spam.
They have 3 tiers, you plus 2 levels down. You might average $3 for each survey you take and $2 for surveys taken by your direct referrals and $1 for surveys taken by the referrals of your referrals.
The potential is there to make some money from the 2 tier downline, if you get good enough at recruiting motivated people. But if you get good at recruiting motivated people, you are much better served using your rare talent in a good MLM, network marketing program.

Bosco, Surveys may not be the thing for you but don't make a blanket statement that no one should do them. For some people that have multiple income streams or that do it for extra spending money they can work fine.

Bosco - you are way wrong. You have not seen the "real" ones and have obviously had some bad experiences. I have made as much as $35 on one survey through Surveyspot. I have had many 1 to 3 dollar ones as well. My daughter (19) also started doing this and has had many checks for 15 to 40 dollars. I agree it is hard to weed out the scams from the real, but there are many legitimate ones out there. That is why places like this are a good place to share. It helps to sort the good from the bad!
