Yes, these changes are hard to keep up with. The reason I said $2000 at her cost is because when my new rep signed up last month, she was told by corporate that she had to spend $2000 ($4000 retail) on 50% off jewelry to get the "party on the go" kit. She did spend that, so I don't know for sure if they were right or if they would have also gotten it with $2000 retail. The materials are really not clear about that!

If you look at the bottom left side of the "Sign up Kit Order Form", it clearly says "when you purchase $1,000 or more of Silpada Jewelry at your discounted price, you will automatically receive the Party on the Go display set." Hope this helps clear up any confusion.

How have some of you been doing at vendor shows? What do you display on your tables other then the jewelry (ie, business opp tents?) I have been working on fundraisers to get my sales up and to expand my business. Are there any other Silpada forums out there that have templates for downloading flyers and things of that nature that I can use verbiage to create my own?

I believe that the topic of vendor shows (and craft shows) has been addressed in this forum before. Personally, I have not had much success with sales or party bookings at this type of event and the other Reps that I know would agree with me. A vendor show is a good place to network and exchange ideas with other vendors. You might even find a vendor that is willing to trade parties with you. I typically would display a minimal amount of jewelry plus a stack of "look books". I keep catalogs and business opportunity kits under the table in case I get into a conversation with someone who is genuinely interested.

I do not know of another site where you can download forms to use for fundraisers etc. You should be able to get information like this from your upline and/or her upline etc. These ladies have been in the business for a longer period of time and most likely have experience with anything you are interested in and probably also have forms, invitations, etc saved on their computer that they can share.

Judy, I am 64 and I do very well. LMAO (can't believe I am revealing my age on this site). Most of my hostesses are in their 30's and 40's but I have done other shows with hostesses of all ages. You can do it!!

The new spring catalog is out and also a catalog of gorgeous charms with necklaces and bracelets to attach them to. If you are not a representative, be sure to look at your rep's website to see all of these beautiful new pieces!

Hi Billie,

Can you speak again about the hostess activities/benefits and how this works? Also, what do you mean specifically about having 6 confirmed bookings before starting out?

I am just now joining Silpada as a representative and am anxious to get started. It will be a part-time effort to begin. I am just following the steps in the process, completing the information, receiving the kit, and then working on hosting my first home party. I imagine at first I won't do well, but of course I will learn as I go, and will then start working on my second home party. Where do hostesses come in? What other advice can you provide? If you want to Email me that is fine too.

Thanks!

Kaytee, you are asking about two different things here.

The hostess benefits are awesome in comparison to other direct sales companies. The hostess (whether it's you hosting your own party or another hostess where you are the rep) will receive 30% of total sales in FREE jewelry as long as the party has 10 separate orders that total at least $500. This is so easy to do. If you get 10 orders, you will almost always reach the $500 mark.

When I talk about 6 confirmed bookings, I am referring to those who are considering signing up as a rep. If you can get 6 people who say "yes" they will have a party and you can get the date and time of that party on your calendar before you sign up, then you WILL be successful! You will recover your initial sign up costs and be on your way to earning an income as well as free jewelry, trips, etc.

Hope that answers your question!

Hi!

I'm a newbie and considering joining silpada. When you become a rep, how long do you have to purchase your jewelry at half off? Is there a limit? After this time period is over, how much do we pay to add pieces to our kit? Do you mind sharing how much you invested to begin with? I'm thinking of starting with 1,000.

Thanks!!

Yes, it's crazy to think you have to invest 4K in order to have a nice display and be successful. The catalog is beautiful and displays all jewelry at actual size (except for the new spring supplement catalog). I know reps who have started their business with 10-12 pieces of jewelry on their display table and been very successful. In fact, I have saved a few photos of mini displays on my computer that I would be happy to share if someone needs to see them. Just sent me a private message here on this site along with your email address and I will send you the photos.

It is true that the more you have to display, the more you will probably sell at a home party but that definitely does not mean that you cannot start your business with just a few pieces of Silpada jewelry. Talk up the catalog and point out the pieces that the models are wearing. If you want more jewelry to display, borrow it from your sponsor or someone else on your team. You will accumulate more jewelry as time goes on which you can purchase with your free jewelry certificates (based upon your sales) or from the commissions that you are earning. Good luck!

Maybe you can do a Spring Bling Launch Party
Spring Bling
I'm starting a new business so let's "ring" in the Spring with some new bling! I hope you can join me for a well deserved girl's time out! I am hosting a Silpada Designs jewelry party where there is beautiful hand crafted sterling silver jewelry for everyone. No presentation, just good food, good friends and fabulous sterling silver jewelry.

You can also see if you can have a gold buyer on hand so friends can trade in their gold and then have cash in hand to buy more silver

Mammagrym has a great idea. I did a similar party where I had a gold dealer present to buy the customer's old gold and they were amazed at how much "cash on the spot" they got for their old and broken gold jewelry.

Just advertise your party as a girls night out featuring the fabulous designs of Silpada jewelry. Let them know there is no pressure to buy and no presentation. It's just a fun girls night out playing dress up with beautiful jewelry. Call it a WINO'S party if you like (Women In Need of Sterling) and offer wine and appetizers as snacks. Select a model from your guests and offer a small prize (a polishing cloth?) to the person who can do the best job of layering her and dressing her as a classy Silpada chick! It will be fun! Everybody will have a good time and they will buy the jewelry! Turn up the music, move back the furniture and dance the night away if your group is so inclined. Just have fun!!!!!!!!!!!

You don't have to let people know that this is the launching party for your new business although it certainly doesn't hurt to tell them that either!

Just send out invites saying that you are having a Silpada jewelry party and in fact, you have decided to start selling the jewelry because you love it so much. Ask them to come to an open house to help launch your new business and remind them that here is no presentation. Tell them you will have jewelry for them to try on but basically it's just a girl's night out with beverages and appetizers to have fun. Believe me, they will come and when they see the jewelry they will buy it! You will be off to a successful good start!

I've been reading this forum for some time now and am impressed with the level of conversation. I'm a successful Silpada rep in Canada and do on average 3 parties per month - more in the Fall and have earned all of the trips available. I have a full time job during the day and spend 1 hour on Silpada each evening. I love everything about it. I have signed up new reps but only if they have a minimum of 4 parties booked before they sign and explain that you can have whatever you want from Silpada but the more you want the more you have to work at it.

Enough about me...I have a question. I have a lady who wants to have a Silpada party for her 50th birthday. She wants to word the invitation in a fun way...something along the lines of "Please come and help celebrate Eleanor's 50th birthday. No gifts, all you need to do is buy yourself something nice and Eleanor will receive free jewelry"

Now I need to figure out a fun way to say that! Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

I would suggest creating your own invitations using Microsoft Word or something similar. You can then say exactly what you want to say and insert clip art images related to a birthday theme and/or images of Silpada jewelry pieces. I would personally send these invites through the US mail however you could also copy your created invite into an email and send them that way.

I have done this before. My invitation read:

A girl can NEVER, EVER, have too much jewelry so.....
all I want for my birthday is a
SILPADA JEWELRY BIRTHDAY PARTY!

No gifts please...just get a little "BLING" for yourself!
Your purchase means that I get FREE jewelry!

Please help me celebrate with wine, appetizers, and birthday cake on (date, time, address)

If you would like a copy of the word document that I created which also included clip art images, please send message to my inbox along with your email address.

My WINOS invitations are by far the most popular that I use. You can tailor them to any occasion.

For example.......In honor of Eleanor's 50th birthday, you are invited to a WINOS party (Women In Need Of Silver) and then go on to say that all she wants is for you to purchase some "bling" for yourself so that she can earn free jewelry blah blah blah......

Serve wine, appetizers, and birthday cake.

I also have copies of the WINOS invitations saved on my computer.

Other popular topic lines for invitations might be:
Calling all Chic Chicks
Darling Divas
Nifty Fifty Party
Happy Birthday to Me!

Have fun with it....you can probably find other ideas for creating invitations on the internet.

Hi Everyone,
I am in the process of becoming a Silpada rep. I was introduced to the line a few years ago from a co-worker. I really enjoyed the pieces I saw. The only reason I was hesitant in becoming a rep was because of the prices. Has anyone had any difficult selling due to the prices? Was this ever an issue?

Any advice on how to gain a client list? I am trying to avoid my family only because for some close family friends and family the prices are a little high. For me, they are reasonable as I love jewelry and the I have seen the quality.

Also, what tips do you have for parties? I want an approach of just displaying the jewelry and letting it sell itself. I don't want to give a speech or try selling people because I hated that myself when I went to home parties.

Any suggestions/tips would greatly be appreciated!!

Welcome to the wonderful world of Silpada jewelry!

As stated in many other previous posts here, DO NOT sign up until you already have somewhere between 4-8 confirmed parties on your calendar with dates and times. That's the only way to ensure success.

Yes, you will encounter people who think the jewelry is pricey. These people probably buy all their jewelry at discount stores and it's usually costume jewelry they are buying. Women who wear fine jewelry are accustomed to paying a bit more for genuine .925 sterling silver along with other genuine stones etc. These are the women you want to target although I have found that even women who don't spend a lot of money on jewelry will still attend a girls night out Silpada party and end up making a purchase that they are delighted with.

Your customer base will grow in time if you consistently work your business. The more effort you put into it, the more you will get out of it in the way of parties, commissions, free jewelry, trips, etc. It's also important to stay in touch with your customers. Follow up after they receive their jewelry to see how they like it. Talk to them about the advantages of hosting their own party. Nobody starts out with a "client list". Your customers will increase little by little as you do parties and try to expand your base. In other words, don't depend on the same few hostesses to do parties over and over again.

Silpada prides itself on the fact that there is no presentation at our home parties so your idea of just letting the jewelry sell itself is exactly how we work our businesses. We don't give speeches. We just display the jewelry and mingle with the guests, asking questions that will help us to know them better and of course answer any questions about the jewelry.

Good luck!

Thank you Billie for your advice. For the last few days I have been addicted to reading this thread and found it very helpful! I am amazed it has been going on since 2007 and delighted that you are still writing on it with still such enthusiasm! Looks like over 4 plus yrs Silpada is still working for you.

So far I have 3 people that are interested in having a party. I live in a pretty big developlement and was wondering if it is beneficial to send out a mailer to everyone informing them I am a local neighbor starting out in this business and briefly telling them about the line and how to earn jewelry and have home parties, etc. Something catchy. Do you think this is a good idea? I also am going to reach out to the Chamber of Commerce. I live near alot of coffee shops, hair salons, banks, grocery stores so was thinking of also posting flyers. Does this seem to work to get peoples attention?

Also one concern I do have is if I find people in the area that are interested in becoming reps, should this be a concern? I mean with too many reps in the area, does this impact my future? I probably getting ahead of myself here but just something I was thinking about.

I would love to talk to you one on one if you don't mind. Your posts on this thread have been extremely informative and truthful, which is needed!

Thanks again!
