A work at home mom whom i know said that working from home is really horrible. She also said that sitting in home and doing job really makes her panic. But i know few work at home moms who are happy with their life style. So its difficult for a newbie...I dont know how many in this community feels like this. Please share your thoughts...

Well, I have three children ages 8, 5 and 10mths, I stay at home with them, I homeschool them and my husband is a truck driver and gone all the time so there is no way for me to be lazy, even if I just wanted to try it out LOL. I love this opportunity because I can make money without the worry of paying for daycare and leaving them with someone else. I work at night when my kids are sleeping and with all the responsibilities of the household on me, plus being my childrens "teacher" I still make it a priority to get out of the house regularly - for me and my children.
I am VERY happy with my lifestyle but I am also very involved in my church and have other outside activities going on. I recommend that if you are working from home, that you also find things to do regularly to get out.
Best of luck to you - just remember it is what you make it!! Working from home doesn't make you a prisoner to it - it can actually set you free!!!

I've been working from home for about six months this year, I'm divorced and my son is off to college, so it's just me and the dog to take care of right now. I put in as much a 14 hours a day in front of the computer working at home. I'ts hard work, I have to push myself to do more every day. The idea that you can get rich on the internet working 15 minutes a week is just a bit off I think. I think most people in home businesses, online or off, probably work 10, 12 maybe 16 hours a day at times. I guess some people, who have done it right for a few years, if very lucky and smart, can sit back and take it easy - but I don't know anybody like that personally.

In fact,I am often still up at 2am after getting up at 6.30am the previous day!
I agree,you have to regulate some kind of structure into your day,so you don't end up floating around the net without getting much productive done.
I also LOVE what I do

I absolutely love working from home. But I'm the type of person who will go out and find something to do. I think it really depends on your personality and personal/family needs. You must be self motivated to sit down and do your work each day.

My own experience from working is that if you dont discipline yourself into having actual hours you work, you might tend to over do things a bit. Its important to take time and go out also or it can get a bit suffocating.(just my opinion)

that is a great response you gave to this! I to have a husband that is gone with business travels alot so am home with our kids (mine arent school age yet thought) and I have to say that I agree with you 100% and that working from home is all about balance and that it can set you free because you are able to reaise your kids and still make money to add to your home. I currently am with West at Home and so far so good but Im very new to it. What, if I can ask are you doing that enables you to still be home with your family. Good luck to you with your endeavors and my hats off to you too for homeschooling too!

I've been working at home as a medical transcriptionist for 11 years, and I'm certainly not lazy. Working at home requires self-discipline and dedication. You won't make a good living by being lazy.

I have been working from home for two years now. I like the perks that if it gets a little slow or you are good at juggling you can get things done around the house during the week.
I am going crazy however. I like to socialize and miss the discussions that go on in the office. My office is an hour away and with the gas prices the way they are, I can't afford to drive there once a week.
Does anyone have any ideas as far as hobbies to get into outside of the house, that are not expensive, don't require that you sit down the whole time, and allow you to meet new people?
I am having a hard time finding something in this cold weather. Spring please hurry up!!!!

If you're the type of person who doesn't like to answer to a boss (who only has his own interest in mind), and enjoys the challenge of creating his/her own lifestyle on your own terms, then you'll likely not be lazy....in fact, the opposite is very true; you'll be 100% driven and committed to make it happen!

There is a mouthful of truth in the above quotes.
Working from home doesn't mean that you can goof off and breeze through the day without some structure, objective and discipline. You wouldn't get much done that way, nor would you make much money.
It definitely helps if you are a self-starter who can work without supervision, set your own objectives, solve problems and have fun in the process.
If you decide to work from home, these are some of the qualities that must be cultivated, if you don't already possess them.

Truth of the matter is, if a person is lazy at their job then they will be lazy at home - If you are a driven person like a lot of are that work from home - it gives us a purpose and vision.
For me, the more I have to do, the more I get done. On the days that I don't work my business, I tend to get a bit slack, and even the dishes don't get done - lol

I have to admit it was harder than I thought it would be at first. I'd always considered myself self motivated and a hard worker. I guess the biggest challenge for me was that I home school and it hard finding a schedule that worked for everyone. But we've been doing this for close to a year now and I think we have it down pat. Now, I LOVE IT!!!! It's been the best thing I've ever done and I can't wait to get up in the morning and go to work.
Every day I get to help others achieve their goals � I am so blessed. Knowing that there are others out there struggling is my motivation and there is no way I ever see myself getting lazy!

No its not so horrible cause the work is changing from day to day only thing we have to do is to up to the challenge and work as far as i can. For me its so interesting I asked from you all to make your self up to the challenge and enjoy your challenge do that you will not be wary

Is not really correct that working at home makes you LAZY !!!
Its depending on working way that how the worker work on it .
Its so interesting. Work form home is really good option, its not horrible .
Keep thinking about this & plz change your your views.

Too be honest, I think for anyone to work at home or own their own business they have to have a few qualities:
Self Discipline- without this, you could get lazy; not get your work done and not prioritize what is important.
Self Motivation- You need to be motivated! If you are not motivated enough for yourself to get it done, then it ain't gonna work.
Those are just a couple, but they are vital in working a business from home. If you are not able to discipline yourself you can get very lazy and never get anything done.

Yes, you've got to get your home office space and let it be known this is your work, but the FREEDOM is great, especially when you have a profitable home business.
Lazy, no such thing...but darn comfortable!

My biggest problem is trying to get a viable schedule planned; I have 5 children, and we homeschool, so between housework, laundry, homeschool and working from home, I don't always know where to start! I'm open to suggestions, if y'all have any!

I am new to this forum and wanted to chime in that I actually have a full time job that I work remote from home. Still with a boss, but a ton better environment wise. I agree that there has to be self discipline. You must get up and get ready for work and should have a space set aside for this work only. Working remote from home has had it's great advantages. I get flex hours if I have appointments because I can fill in an hour here or an hour there, along with core hours worked. I get to take care of my children, and be here when they need me. Being a single mom this is very important to me. These are the main reasons why I am looking at a home based income generating business of my own. I never want to go back to an office. But I will still need money and a way to support my family. I have tried three online teaching courses that have all guaranteed my success and yet I am still trying to earn that first dollar. I did pay for these courses and yes I did learn from them but all of them leave something out that just makes me feel like it is impossible for me to achieve. I am trying again. Wish me luck everyone!!
