I was out tonight and just wanted to share my experience with everyone.
I have been marketing online for about 3 years now.. 1 year successfully :P. However, I never really did much in person.
In fact.. It wasn't too long ago that I decided I wanted to start to prospect people in my area.. I mean I must be missing out on TONS of reps by ignoring 50% of my marketing!.
So I have been working on talking to people the past few weeks to help grow my business where I live.
Anyway, tonight I was shopping at wal-mart pretty late.. It was about 1:15 AM and the floors were SUPER shiny.. They had just waxed them.
There was this guy picking some stuff up and I asked him if he waxed the floors.
He told me yes and I told him they looked great. Well, needless to say that got him talking some.
He told me all about how he hand waxed them and how he takes care of 26 walmarts in the area etc etc etc.
Come to find out he is an older guy that works 2 full time jobs and waxing floors was him time to "relax".
We talked for a while about work, life, etc..
I ended up giving him a business card and telling him to "take the tour".
That was SO easy... Seriously talking to someone and handing them a card.. WAYY easier than online marketing or "branding" myself. Not that those are bad things just saying..
Ending the conversation he seemed very interested.. I didn't explain my business at all and I might have changed someone's life forever..
Think about that..
If I never talked to him.. he wouldn't have my card.. He wouldn't have been presented a great opportunity.. AND maybe 2 years from now he will be financially free without a worry in the world a living his life the way HE wants to.
I could have changed his life FOREVER tonight. I know the person that introduced me to network marketing did..
Who knows if he will sign up. Some see it, some don't.
I sure do feel good right now though =].
Matt

There are so many ways to market and be successful. Things like you are doing, if done on a consistent basis will produce effective results. The old 3 foot rule of networking.
What is great about technology today is you DO NOT have to personally explain anything, just point people to a video presentation and let the person decide is there opportunity for them to seize or not.
And all to often people are forgetting about offline marketing tactics.

Me Too! =]
talfighel: Great story. Hope he joins you. Thanks Tal, I appreciate it!
FreeCashMan: What is great about technology today is you DO NOT have to personally explain anything, just point people to a video presentation and let the person decide is there opportunity for them to seize or not Yeah, I literally did not explain a single thing about my business. It was just pointing him in the right direction.
People think they need to sell, but they don't.. Network Marketing is by FAR the EASIEST, FASTEST, SMARTEST, way for someone to build a LARGE lifelong residual income.
It is simply amazing.

I actually am starting to do this myself, so its funny how I came across your post. I got some generic business cards with my name and websites stating "Home Business Coach" instead of using any ACN business cards.
I find it to be effective and it builds curiosity. The only problem is that my blog can be a tad overwhelming to those who are brand new in online marketing.
Great story though, Matt!

I use a website that has an opt in then a tour of the company.
I use these for my business cards.. Check them out.

Matt Zenittini I actually will be using the MLSP drop cards which seem to be exactly the same thing. Those can be powerful for sure, but I learned a different strategy than handing them out.
I was taught that those cards should be just left when you go out to eat, at the gas station pump, on a news stand, or places like that. I would hand out my business cards for those that I meet so they can remember my name.
This is just my opinion (Not to mention the price difference between business cards and the drop cards) and has been what I have learned.

That card will probably never leave the persons pocket.
AND they show it to their friends because it's cool =].

It's all about human connection, that brings better results in comparison with the virtual network, I think.
