Hello everybody!

Let me introduce myself first since I am new on this forum. My name is Nikola, I am Croatian and I currently live in Canada. I am about to turn 19 years old and I have been apart of an MLM company called ACN for the past ~4 months.

I know ACN does not have the best reputation out there but I truly believe they are one of the top MLM companies even though your income will be based for a while only on recruiting (Residual takes a long time to kick in).

1) When I first started, I only did warm-market. I recruited about ~20 people in my first month. Now, my problem for the past 3 months is that I recruited a big total of 0 people. Every single one of the 20 reps I have under me are "dead bubbles". They are not doing anything. They were probably thinking MLM is a "get rich overnight" scheme and they got disappointed. I doubt I can make them start working (they are all around my age, btw.) They are still in that phase, "lets go to bars, drink every single night and have fun while we are young". I don't blame them... I am one of the rare people of my age which is taking my financial future very seriously. (Just to give you an example, during the whole Christmas weekend (sat/sun) I was on Skype doing presentations both days from 8am to 2am. I spoke to around ~40 people and none of them signed up :/). I am highly motivated and quitting hasn't even crossed my mind. (I know alot of people would have quit in the same situation as I am right now...) I want to succeed as bad as I want to breathe and I was just looking for some tips on what I could do... Has anyone crossed a similar period? I would highly appreciate your input on what I should do and how to start recruiting people and producing leaders.

2) I have this little problem that when I get to speak in front of more than 7 people I get really stressed. Once I was asked to go in front of room that had about 50-100 people by my RVP to do a testimonial (I made 500$ in my first 4 days with ACN) and I was really red and shaking... While I know this is somewhat normal, I am just looking for some tips to improve that situation as I REALLY want to get on the stage and be a motivational speaker. I know I have to get out of my comfort zone in order to be successful.

I am highly motivated as I really don't see myself having a job for the next fifty years and struggle to survive. And I really, REALLY hate school... I am trying to get out of the system as soon as possible.

Thanks for your help and sorry for any grammar mistakes I made. (English is my 3rd language, so I do my best...)

nickkLP, first of all welcome to this forum. You took a good step in finding help and support. Second, you are doing real good with your grammar. Third, great to hear you are taking your financial future seriously. And now, let's find out what it is that you are really having trouble with. You mentioned that that you approached your warm market and they all seem to be "dead bubbles" and not doing anything. What this means is that you accepted the wrong people into your business. Just as an employer does an interview, you NEED to select the right people to be in your team. You have to find people who are like you or close. Also, you many have to give some serious thought to the company you represent. Are they really a company that you feel confident in? If the company did not have a business opportunity would you still be involved with them? In other words, would you be a happy customer just by using their products or services? Have you been taught to do a profit/loss sheet to track your finances? All these questions are related to most if not all business.

Yes, the products ACN offers are really good. I would definitely use them over the other cable companies since A) they are cheaper and B) they have options other "traditional" cable companies don't have.

For the "recruit the right people part", my uplines are always telling me to NOT select people or judge them. Just to recruit anyone I can... That's what I have been trying to do for the past three months. Like I said, I am at the point where I recruited a big total of 0 people in the last three months and I easily spoke to over 60 people in that laps of time... I just don't know what to do at this point and where to find people that are like me and ready to be leaders.

Thanks for your answer.

There has got to be a book out there on Amazon.com where you can learn how to get rid of stage speaking fear.

I personally will never do any presentations to other people. I would let a system (website with videos) do all the work for me.

Congratulations,

First, welcome to the forum, a great place to learn all about working from home and online. I admire anyone who puts aside the so called good life and goes out partying every night rather than planning for their futures, so again, congratulations.

ACN has been around for many years, so nothing wrong with choosing a company with a long track record, and yes, some of record is not good, but that is typical in any MLM from my years involved. I never liked the pay to play deals personally, but hey, many have done well with ACN, and the services are at least reasonably priced as I see it, very important in a recession, although CA is not being impacted as much as in the U.S. market.

Speaking in front of large groups is something no one is comfortable with to start, but in time it will come easily. I was the same way, and after speaking in front of hundreds, it is second nature now. Just make sure you are prepared and it becomes easy to speak about your company and services. Don't get discouraged, never quit, everyone goes through spells where they make no sales, so keep on doing what you are doing is always the best advice. Quitters never win and winners never quit, a bit of advice everyone should remember in MLM industry.

Success to all,

Welcome Nikola! Your English is great - I love your writing style.

Have you ever heard of Dani Johnson? If you google her, you can find her or if you send me a pm, I can send you a link to her stuff, but she is amazing at teaching you the art of becoming very successful with mlm. She went from homeless to very wealthy within months and she was about your age, I believe - not sure about that, but I know she was quite young when she first got started - but anyways, I went to a few of her training events and it is the most amazing personal development training I have ever had. ( which is what most successful mlmers will say we need to become successful!)

And it stands to reason, as network marketing is a 'people business'

So anyways, get some of her free stuff - I think you'll like it and your numbers will probably go up again.

Hey Nikola!

First of all, let me congratulate you for taking 2 steps forward:

1. To look for a vehicle to get out of the system,
2. For talking about your problems to build this vehicle.

This is very rare to find, specially in people your age! kudos!

Anyhow, here are my thoughts: (based on my experience)

1) "...Has anyone crossed a similar period? I would highly appreciate your input on what I should do and how to start recruiting people and producing leaders."

Answer: I've been through a similar period. I know by first hand what you are feeling. To solve this problem you gotta put a fist on the table and take a different approach towards your MLM business. The good part is that you have already taken action and in consequence some results have come to your table. That is great! But if you want change these results, you gotta do something diferent. In a short answer: learn marketing. Pitching your products and/or business opportunity to everyone you know is NOT an effective way to do marketing. If I were you, I would click the link in my signature to get the videos that teach about attraction marketing.

2) "...I am just looking for some tips to improve that situation as I REALLY want to get on the stage and be a motivational speaker."

Answer: The solution is right in front of you my friend. Keep getting out of your comfort zone. Keep speaking in front of people but use a little tweak: take a very deep breath before the speech and slowly learn to control your thoughts. Get in total control of yourself and just be present.

Please let me know how this goes and...Welcome to the world of entrepreneurship!

Rock on,

Cesar

Hey there, and welcome to the world of home business ownership. You are in for the ride of your life, and you will NOT regret it if you stick it out for the long haul.

I'm going to make an off-the-wall suggestion about speaking in front of people. I don't have trouble doing it, but when I am unsure of what to say in a presentation, I prepare for it by writing it down and then recording myself giving the presentation. I record myself using a tool called Camtasia.

After I record, I listen back to whatever I just said over and over again. I edit myself as I listen, and I perfect it until it's actually time to give the speech. Sometimes, I give my husband and daughter my speeches as well. Home practice has prepared me for public practice many a day.

I hope this helps!

Sincerely,
Christi Johnson

Good pointers already noted for overcoming Stage fright. If you did it once you can do it again.

You success well come down to marketing consistently and effectively. So you want to continue to do things that keep putting eyeballs in front of your presentation.

I was also suggest diversification. Don't treat your home business like a job, treat it like an investment portfolio. A.k.a. don't put all you eggs in one basket.

All the best. My journey began when I was 25 with Primerica. While I didn't stay with them, nor did I make a lot of money. I learned about being a "free man". Free to control my time and other things I may want to do on any given day without asking permission from a boss. It changed my life, and I'm sure if you hang around successful ACN'ers and events you will never be the same even if you don't stay with ACN.

All the best!
