mtran2000 People will quit anything. my guess is, most people get involved in mlm thinking they will make a gazzillon dollars overnight. Not so. It takes time and patience. Given the right amount of time and consistant effort, it WILL work.

Only something with a small reward is easy and financial independence is no small thing. Being successful in any business takes learning new skills, having razor sharp focus, and never giving up. There's just no other way.
There's no job security in traditional business these days so the only security we have is what we create ourselves. If we develop the most marketable skills, we can use them anywhere even if....something goes wrong with our business opportunity.
Make it a great day!

Hm - if it was easy - everyone would be successful!
What most people don't know is how much time they need to invest to build their business. It doesn't happen overnight so don't believe the hype.
I DO tend to agree with you on finding an MLM product that is perfect to retain distributors. That's what I was looking for and decided I wouldn't join another MLM until I found just that.
Success in MLM is finding people who want what you have to offer. It's not signing people up just to get them in. After all - if they're not successful, you won't be either.
Consider this - if you have to spend all your time chasing people OR training your downline, you won't have the time to BUILD your business. If people are struggling to make their auto-ship every month, they're going to drop out.
The best recruits are other network marketers and entrepreneurs.

MLM would be easy if you follow that multi-level marketing is the perception of offering your product to the customer when they want, in the way they wish for. Some people favor face-to-face sales; some prefer conventional mail order catalogs, while others prefer online shopping. Most customers, however, participate in an amalgamation of those methods, and multi-channel marketing aims to meet the customer where they are to hand out them better.

mtran2000 I have found in my mlm marketing career that a company that offers a product that is in the form of a membership that people have to renew every month to get the benefits is the type of company that people will stay with year after year. Look for companies that have benefits that people will use every month. Recession proof products are the type of products that people are interested in this economy. Always promote the benefits the people will receive from using your products. If people really love the product and use the product every month, they will stay with the company.

Great discussion everyone with valid points all around. I have to agree with Matt on the compensation plan not being as important as many feel it should be, yes I want to be compensated nicely for me it is not a key factor at least not in the beginning. Having a product or service I can share with prospects where they get it and want it on the first meeting is more important to me.
Creating my story, the commissions will come later I want to know that I can use the product first well enough to share that experience with any and everyone I can.

In MLM, the first person I need to "sell" to is myself.
I have no problem with shamelessly promoting something - as long as I truly believe in it.
To stand behind a product and recommend it to my family & friends (and other customers), I need to be passionate about it. And ask anyone who knows me; when I love something, I'm a drama queen! Luckily, in MLM this is a good thing.
The same goes for the company and its compensation plan. If I'm asking people I care about to join my business, it had better be awesome. The last thing we want to do is waste others' time and money.
In our business, sincerity and enthusiasm are mandatory. That only comes from belief in what we're offering.
MLM would be easy if... we all absolutely loved and believed in our product, our company and our comp plan. With commitment, motivation and that kind of passion, it's hard NOT to be successful.

I believe network marketing is all about selling yourself and not your products. If you are in MLM you really are in the people business so If you learn to sell yourself and position yourself as a leader, then others will follow you no matter what you are selling or what company you are in.
There is no company that has a perfecct product and people will always be coming and going no matter what you do.
But here's a fact, people don't quit your business, they quit YOU!
Your job is to motivate your reps to stay focused and teach them to be succcessful by positioning themselves as a leader, and so on.
Ok yes you do need to believe in your company's product somewhat, but the #1 reason people join your business is because they want to make money and they want YOU to show them how.
If you don't deliver, they usually eventually drop out but it's not you reps success you need to be concerned about as much as it is your own. Lead by example. If they see you doing it and getting results, then they will too.

Learning + applying what you learn = earning.
Learn a method then master it. Learn another then master it.

Company, Comp plan and Product are KEY
But, I feel that what is the Most important is :
1. Knowing how to get 'any amount' of leads 2. Knowing how to convert them to partners and customers
simple.
with these you will be a rockstar in 'any' company.
To your success, Chucks.
