Love the article's!
I think it just inspired me to get back to work on my home based business. (Which i have been slacking in due to lack of success). I never had the intent of quitting, I just needed something different.. Something to let me know whether I really want to do this. And adding value to people is exactly what i want to do.. Now, I'll benefit my business as well..
Thanks a bunch!

I have read this forum. I do agree with web20mentor. I think if you want to get success in MLM so you need to know more about it. I have awareness about Nexera they provides MLM Books, network marketing training books, best books for network marketing success, making money in MLM, direct sales marketing and training, MLM training newsletters, MLM success training newsletter and much more. They may be helpful to know about MLM.

There is nothing wrong with being intially attracted to mlm, because of the possibility of getting wealthy exist. i mean when we,the opposite sex first lay eyes upon a possible mate, physical attraction is at the fore front of our brains. Then conversation ensues...[lol] Same for mlmers hoping to get rich. You can do it, but you must work. conversation must take place...

malibumentor
Malibumentor - while, in general, that statement holds true, I do not agree with it.
My first network marketing opportunity cost me $20,000 that I absolutely did not have.
I was absolutely motivated to succeed, and worked my tail off calling leads I bought, passing out flyers and using the three foot rule everywhere I went.
I bought booths at networking events and placed ads on people's cars and in laundromats...all the places my upline told me to.
Bottom line...I fell defeated to the lack of marketing knowledge I now know years later.
Not only did I not recruit anyone into my downline, but I spent about $30,000 to fall flat on my face.
I guess what I'm trying to say is knowledge is far more important than the cost of entry to your opportunity.
I am involved in a lower tier opportunity now and I am successfully applying the techniques now that I didn't know existed four years ago.
...and recruiting resistance continues to go down.
Knowledge is power!

Depending on the products you are promoting, affiliate marketing and network marketing go hand and hand. If you are looking to produce big time profits, you probably don't want to just rely on your downline. I am a huge believer in education. Man, if I would have started researching internet marketing 10 years ago I would be retired today. Yes you should definitely invest in educating yourself and acquiring the necessary skills to be productive. And no, it doesn't cost thousands of dollars to do that. The tools are out there don't be afraid to crack open the wallet and invest in your success! To me it's the best investment you can make.

Wow. I learned a lot. Thanks! I've always known that building relationships was the key but you gave me ways to think about doing that outside of what I've already been doing. Keep posting, please!

Hey friend, I agree with you 100%...
It's not about the MLM business, it really about you.
People will join you if you have a unique angle or system to bring to the plate. I know there are a ton of attraction marketing systems, so YOU really are the only unique element, and the only reason someone would join your business.
Offer value! If you can build blogs quickly and easily, offer that as a bonus to your prospects who are thinking of joining...If you can build lead capture pages, or are a YouTube specialist and can create videos, offer that...
If you have a unique marketing system, then offer that.I know I have all those things, and offer them to any new prospect, and I suggest you do the same. STOP selling or promoting your company and START promoting "YOU!"
Great Thread

lsj99 Relationships are definitely key, but there are more ways than one to build them. With the internet today there are so many ways to connect with people. And if your target market seeks you out they will wanna build a relationship with you. With a strategic marketing plan in place you shouldn't have to bust your butt trying to prospect everyone you come across. The big guys in this buisness have people coming to them and most even get paid when this happens. This is called monetization and it is a key to helping in the financing of your buisness. You may ask, do we have to put out money to build this buisness. The answer is yes. If you want to make money you have to spend money. There are marketing expenses, product samples to purchase, but most of all there is the investment in your own education. "By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail." Ben Franklin

Here's a snippet from Rod Cook about this 97% myth...
The link to the entire page is at the bottom.
. The 95% failure rate for MLM-Network Marketing is a fraud statistic. Why? Because it is a proven statistic that 70% of the people that join an MLM - Network Marketing company DROP OUT - and that is different from failing. Who has ever sent out a survey asking "Did you fail at MLM- Network Marketing?" No one with any credibility. Just some MLM - Network critics that hate the industry, and their survey's are very suspect (read that as dreamed up). http://www.mlmwatchdog.com/MLM_Is_Good_Directory.html

I think the fail rate is even higher then 97%. Yes, theoretically everybody can become a mlm guru but practically almost all fail.
Just my 2 cents.

Really someone will only join your business for 2 reasons... Either they like and trust you, and think that you can help them get what they want out of the business.
Or 2... you have some kind of proven system or approach that they can see themselves plugging into and becoming successful with!

RayvinAndRob: Together, maybe we can turn that horrible stigma of a 97% failure rate in the network marketing industry right around and make it the standard success rate instead. That's my dream. There's no reason why so many people should fail. It's time to turn this ship around.

I have been guilty of giving up too easily, it is a tough business but I find too often we treat it as a hobby and thus get paid that way!

When people fail in MLM, I think it's mostly because of false expectations. Face it - any business takes commitment, time and lots of hard, consistent effort to become successful. Network marketing is no different.
Too many MLMers (myself included, years ago) start out thinking it'll be a breezy, fast ride to the top. "Just share this amazing XYZ product with your 3 closest friends. The product sells itself! All you do is watch the money roll in." Seriously? Has that really been anyone's experience?
Even the best company, product & comp plan needs to be worked like a business. Ask any MLM leader, and they'll agree they worked their butt off for their success. Not everyone is prepared to do that. Are we willing to keep going, despite rejection? (Amazingly enough, not everyone falls in love with our product or opportunity!) Are we willing to pass up our nightly 3-hour TV marathon? How about stepping out of our comfort zone? Expanding our social contacts? Picking up that 200-lb telephone? Learning some new skills?
MLM success is available to anyone who is willing to learn and to take their business seriously. It's literally life changing. But not everyone realizes that or even wants it.
To quote a favorite industry leader, "Network marketing is basically a personal development program with a comp plan attached." Most people DON'T fail in this business. But they do quit the challenge of it.

People do not take responsibility for their businesses. They whine, complain, and then say I don't have time for this. What generally happens is they bring people in and don't know how to train them, have them running around like chickens with their heads cut off.
I believe that attraction marketing works, but you you need communication skills as well. People need tenacity to work on and offline and keep their business in the fore front of their minds and not feel as if they are doing it for their up line. Most people just don't want to be bothered by the work. That is why they fail

In my VERY HUMBLE opinion you can only truly succeed at ANYTHING if you are willing to work! Anyone who gets involved in anything thinking they are just going to be handed money for getting on board will be sadly disappointed!
It has been said over and over...this is WORK from home so that's what you must do is WORK!
If everyone could just hop on board and be rich by association then the world would be a much different place.
My best advise when looking into an opportunity is first of all if it seems to good to be true it DEFINITELY IS!!
Be prepared to spend more time and money than you ever planned to be a true success...it does after all take money to make money... you don't have to spend a fortune but there are always expenses around every corner. When you are starting out this can be tough...and frustrating!
Best of luck to everyone,
