All you need to know about an MLM business is:
1. Would I buy (whatever it is) myself? 2. Is 'it' reasonably priced? (usually it certainly isn't). 3. Could I make a reasonable amount of income from just selling 'it' without recruiting anyone? If the answer to any question is 'No' - just don't get involved.

Awesome value provided here in this post web20mentor. I am a firm proponent of not chasing after people to get what you want. Its unfortunate that the majority of MLM companies still shove this ancient form of prospecting down new peoples' throats.

What I don't understand is, despite 97% failure rate, MLM still win most people hearts who want to venture into home businesses. They NEVER ran out the numbers and yet still more people they can brought into.. Isn't this strange?
Yes, agree 97% failure rate - *at execution* stage. Probably 97% Success rate at winning people hearts.
People's behaviour analyzed and tweaked, that's what make it possible..

That is a great point web20mentor, when you chase your prospects you come off as needy and in a begging position. If you want to succeed in Network Marketing you need to position yourself as someone of value and of someone who is worth partnering with.

Danny,
Your post was so spot on. I stumbled upon this forum by accident and the only reason I joined was how insightful your post was along with the other folks - but - yours really blew me away.
Adding value is key, I for one do not want to chase, guilt, beg and plead to recruit or sell.
Thanks so much, I'm looking forward to learning a lot from all of you.
Warm regards,

MLM is just like any other business. You need to find a targeted market for whatever you are marketing (product or business), find exactly what they desire or pain they want to get away from, and give it to them.

Hey Thanks for this post. I think there is a solution of this problem. And that is choosing a right parent company to start your MLM Organization. Coose a company that have proven records to provide you a complete solution of your MLM business.
Thanks Angela

I see what you mean when you said adding massive value to your market is quite difficult at first and I believe it is worth it.
The MLM business talks about millions so people cannot just say that you can achieve this overnight. It's a serious business that requires focus, patients and passion which is probably your only solid investment.
It is better than traditional business in the sense that:
1. Investment is only a fraction 2. Business model is simpler 3. You likely to develop "better" skills 4. You get more freedom after establishing your network 5. You value your rewards more
Hope this give additional value to others...

I think most people get attracted so much is because of the assurance of the simple business model. It's easy to say that you just promote the products. In reality, there's a lot of skills to developed here.
Robert Kiyoski said these kinds of business are the perfect training for marketing business - so it must be very challenging.

PincPassion
Those are not my words they were quoted by me from username Banker:
My comment stands though Because people love to buy hope. You are right in saying there is a lot to learn in MLM. Most people wouldnt join an MLM if they knew in advance what they were in for. Its easier to " buy hope" treat the business like a hobby then quit. In fact Ive walked away from MLM because of the 97% 'ers and now only deal with the 3%'ers. Very refreshing indeed, i can tell you.

Yes, many people buy hope and they get sold on the stats that are provided on the website. Then they are told to resell the same opportunity. Which I guess isn't horrible if it works for you.
But these Guru's never tell people the exact steps they should take that will make them a significant amount of income. I guess that's where finding a mentor comes in right?

I think there are a lot of lessons to be learned in network marketing, yet not everyone succeeds in this business.
There are too many factors to affect one's success... such as your upline, downlines, and how you carry yourself as a professional. These same factors are the same cause why there are more people who fail at networking more than those who actually succeed.
everlonglp3 is right, finding the right mentor is also key.

When we look at these figures, what should our expectations really be? A large majority of people who start a home business don't understand the work it will require and most don't have the right job skills in the beginning.
People who don't know mlm sign up others and show them the wrong way to do it. Failure breeds failure. That's why my team only grows 2 at a time. Mentoring 1 on 1 until they can teach 2 people. It takes time to build an organization this way and most will quit before they make their earnings potential bc they don't think long term. Those who last and use this method know mlm is a beautiful business model when everyone understands how it works. I only need one good person to make my business work not the whole world or every working mom or dad. Just a couple that are willing to learn. Prosper well.

People need a lot of patience when working with online businesses. If it's MLM or not.
It really does weed out the unmotivated.
