I wanted to discuss marketing and the importance of it's use in business. There are many strategies to use on the internet. PPC, Ezines, Blogs, Social Networking, ect..... The problem with Network Marketing is most in the industry think that marketing is just about handing out their companies tools. It is so much more than that. The best thing that one can do for ones self is to studying marketing. Not just read one or two books but really learn it. Master ONE strategy and once it is working well for you move on to the next till you master that one and so on and so forth. I know that your company doesn't teach these things cause they are "not duplicable" but if you find the right system it totally is! You have to be willing to do what most won't to be where most aren't. So get out there study and learn how to attract others to you. That said what are others favorite marketing strategies?

That's a strange concept!
Most people would say that "value" relates to what quantity/quality of something you get for your money? That's certainly what all the dictionary definitions talk about.
In that sense, you might say that everything to do with "manufacturing" relates to how companies create value for their customers, and you might even say that "pricing" relates to it as well; but "marketing" seems to be one function of business operations which really isn't to do with the creation of value at all!?

Marketing is ABSOLUTELY about creating value. Value, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder. People love to buy but no one likes to be sold! When we create value, people will buy and feel good about the purchase. Now, you cannot create value unless you know what that person really needs, wants, desires or unless you know what the pain is that they are trying to resolve.
You cannot know this information unless you stop hitting them right away with "would you like to try, do you want to try, what do you think about," and all the other what would you's and do you's and instead, engage them in conversation, real conversation. You have to build a rapport, build a little trust, and when they give you permission to do so, and if you are paying attention, you will know when they are giving you permission, then ask them the "do you's or would you's that lead up to asking them to try a product or look at a business.
Now here's another thought. If we want people to join our business, we need offer value to them. I said WE need to offer value, not our business offer value. Yes, the business must also offer value, but this is a critical point. People don't join your business first, they join YOU! They buy into YOU! If you don't take the step above, find out what they need, want, desire, or where their pain is, you cannot offer them anything of value. If you have nothing of value to offer them, you will fail more often than you succeed when trying to recruit.
This is because you are the comodity they will become sold on before they are ever sold on your business. Most new MLM'ers don't get that. They spend so much time and energy trying to convince the prospect that their compenstion plan is awesome, the products are awesome, their business is awesome that they forget to sell themselves, first. And if you're wondering if this is duplicable, yes it most certainly is. If you recuit by selling yourself first and lead by example, your new people will follow, learn and duplicate.

It's easier to appreciate value when it is expressed in physical terms. A prospect who can see a product, touch it, examine it and test it, and then weigh its cost against the benefits it delivers, will find it fairly easy to make a value judgment.
alexa: but "marketing" seems to be one function of business operations which really isn't to do with the creation of value at all!? Here's where I disagree, although I understand how you came to that conclusion.
The marketing you are referring to here does create value - the value of perception. It's an intangible and is subjective, which makes it harder to determine its true worth, but it's there nonetheless, in the eye of the beholder. It's there in the form of branding, goodwill, name recognition and all the other subtleties that effective marketing conveys at the personal level.

Futhermore i believe that if your not making money from myspace. you shouldnt be on twitter on facebook. I argree with crossam. Master then move the next thing.
Another reason why people fail is because the eye is on the price and people can see though all that. Id rather serve my market and have it chase me.

Good points,
No doubt there are many advertising mediums to choose from, but it is not black and white decision. Value is very important in all aspects, product or service and in advertising, value is critical.
Having used all the mediums for traditional and online businesses, one thing I have learned is this is a moving target, what worked today may not work tomorrow. This is also true with what product or service you are offering, the advertising medium you use will often determine your success.
No doubt all these social netorks are a valuable tool, and will help you move up in search engines, but like all internet based advertising mediums, they only work for a certain period of time. With hundreds of these social deals popping up, you can't be in all of them, so don't bother.
I learned the same lesson with search engines, you can't be on top of all of them, so I went with number one Google, and I could care less about my positions in all the rest. It seems to take care of itself over time as Google is to some degree feeding the others with relevant results. The same is going to be true with social networks, only the top traffic sites are worth advertising on.

The best marketing tip I can give for Internet Marketing is to:
build your own list love your list
A great way to this is with a blog or with a Web Site giving away a free e-book or mini-course.
Some other tips to consider:
Learn to love keyword research
Learn where your target customers 'GO' online
Learn copywriting (content is king - everyday, all day)
Learn and embrace Twitter
Once your learn skills, outsource them as much as possible to pick up new marketing methods.
Get on the RSS feeds and newsletters of marketers so you can see what they are doing

This is what many call a "bait and switch" approach, though, I think? You attract people because they want the free e-book or mini-course and then you've got to use an autoresponder to keep in touch with them and gradually try to persuade them to look at your business op just because it's you who's asking and they feel they know you and trust you?
If you look for people who are already looking for a business op like yours before they contact you, then you don't have to do the persuading part. It's really much easier and quicker!

That depends on your perspective. Not everyone offering free ebooks and blogging is out to just peddle and pitch someone into their business opportunity.
Value first, signups follow. It's a way to deliver value and let individuals see what you're about over the long-term.
This quote by Perry Marshall comes to mind...
"...Because nobody who bought a drill ever really wanted a drill. They wanted a hole. Therefore, if you want to sell drills, you should deliver information about making holes, not about drills!"
Put a "how to succeed in network marketing in their hands" first instead of peddling and it will bring more signups and less buyers remorse.
Also, the money is in the list and you never go wrong by building a huge list. Period.
