Hey guys,
I wanted to create a thread that people could go to to reference marketing online. They question is how do you effectively market your business online.
I use...
1. Article marketing 2. Forum Marketing 3. Blogging
What do you use?
To your freedom and success,
Joel

All of those are good. I also combine offline marketing (postcards) as well to give me a full scale marketing for home business success.
Also videos.

My method is to use Efficiency Software 80% of the time and team building 10% of the time, instead of trying to do projects one at a time.
Anyone still trying to generate traffic by simply using Article Marketing, and Blogging alone, is not using their time as effectively they could be.

I use a combination of many methods. Some work well, others offer back links to my main sites.
Lately, I have enjoyed sharing and learning on forums very much.
Happy Holidays everyone! Victoria

Word of mouth is very effective also.
Being able to talk to someone personally works wonders.

With Free Advertising developing a consistent marketing plan will pay off. You can't occasionally do it and expect success.

sarah84: bookmark to social sites is it a way? According to one of the authors of guerrilla marketing on the internet, it is. You will find that there many ways you can do things on the internet but you need to keep track of what is working and what is'nt. You need a way of measuring your marketing efforts.

I'm in network marketing and I've tried to re-invent the wheel, but I believe it will pay off in the future.
At first I started with my website. I used the ning.com platform which basically creates your own "mini-facebook" for your product, niche, etc. Then I started a local meetup group on meetup.com. Then I registered for gotowebinar.com which allows me to do meetings online with prospect. So I post the webinars as events on meetup and then link back to my original website.
Then, I've added tons of content about our company, our products, etc. I've also added blogs that are about my topic but say very little about the products and don't shove it down people's throats. (I hate when people do that, so I've tried to make sure I don't.)
I used to do PPC, but it wasn't really converting for me, so now basically I'm trying to optimize my website to drive traffic enough to it to get my own leads off my email request form.
In addition to that, I use a bookmarking aggregator like only wire to post my articles and blog posts to like 20 different sites at once. I also have tweetdeck which is a twitter, facebook, linkedin, myspace aggregator and I can tweet from like 6 different accounts simultaneously.
Usually, I'll pull up twitter search and then look for "need a job", "unemployed" etc in people's tweets. Then i respond with an honest invitation. I don't do the whole "Earn a million bucks tomorrow". I'll say something like. "This isn't spam. I've been selling a product and it's working. Free Webinar on" whatever day.
Then, I just go down the line and reply and reply and reply. It's pretty monotonous, but people sign up for my webinars. And most of the time they DON'T show up, but I do get their contact information which is valuable for follow ups.
I do this for facebook too, but I shy away from people I actually know or know well. I go to different groups and advertise my forum on my own website.
All this stuff is very time consuming and i've only been at the SEO stuff for like 2-3 weeks, so it may be months before it catches up and pays off, but it's been an interesting process regardless.
What do you all think? Am I wasting my time?

thank you tons for the valuable information. while we use twitter, i've never thought to go about it that way. altho i have heard of ppl using a similar method on skype.
Ning as well has proved helpful for us, and I like the way you've used it as a base point.
*tips hat* bravo and thanks again

I used to think that article marketing is one of the best ways to go and I figured just now that it is not that effective. I know that for a good amount of people it does work very nicely.
One of the best ways to advertise online is PPC and you if you do it well, then you are going to be very successful.
Free ways usually take a lot longer then if you would advertise on PPC and other paid ways.
