Hi everyone,

I am going to make this article short and to the point. I am not going to bore you with all sorts of theories that might make no sense to you about how to really succeed in network marketing.

In this business there are no secrets to success. You might find people who will try to sell you hyped up sales letters that will "reveal" the secrets to online or offline success in network marketing.

Here is a great example on how to really succeed in this business.

Bill Britt, who is the #1 distributor in Amway with over 2 Million affiliates in his team, told 60 Minutes a few years ago of his efforts in this way and why he has become so successful while so many others have failed.

This is what he said:

"There is no secret. I simply showed the plan to 1200 people. 900 said, 'No.' and only 300 signed up. Out of those 300, only 85 did anything at all. Out of those 85 only 35 were serious, and out of those 35, 11 made me a millionaire."

So the only way to succeed in Network Marketing is to show your business to a lot of people. Will many of them say "no" to you? Of course they will. That's the way it is. But don't forget that a few will say "yes" and your business will grow and grow for months and years to come. That's the beauty of this business. It is all about leveraged income.

Now I am sure that it would be hard for anyone to get so many "No's" and still keep going and building their business. That is why you need to read books and listen to motivational tapes and Cd's on a daily basis. They will guide you and inspire you when the "No's" come in.

So again, there are no secrets in network marketing. You just need to show your business to a lot of people and to never give up no matter what.

Some Will, Some Won't, So what, So who's NEXT.

Tal

That's true. And remember not to make the Nos feel like they are worthless.

We have some network marketers in my area that make everyone feel like they are stupid, irresponsible and worthless if they can't see that their business is the best thing since sliced bread.

So remember to give the same honor and respect to the No's as the Yes's.

edited to add: been on both sides of the fence...lol

Great thread talfighel

Totally agree

I would summise what you have posted as:

1. Action
2. Consistency
3. Persistance

In my experience, a big emphasis should be placed on consistency.

Im assuming that when that 60 minutes interview was run the person in question was using old fashioned MLM "advertising" strategies ie homemeetings 3 way calls cold calls etc.
Now wth the internet its easy to promote your business to 1200 people. In fact 1200 people is nothing nowadays.

Mountainmom....as far as No's , we dont really see or hear from them if using 100% internet marketing

Sure it's easy to show a website to 1200 people these days, but if that's what your team members think showing your business to others consists of, they're in for a rude awakening. If you try to MLM strictly on the computer, I think most will find it really difficult. It is a necessary tool, yes, but it's not the end all.

Shaking hands and talking to people one on one (or over the phone) is still the tried and true method of success IMHO.

The internet will find our prospects. The phone lets them know we are real .

Picking up the phone to call them will instantly build rapport and trust.

The "old fashioned" way to build an MLM is a great asset to use.. You don't HAVE to.. But if you want to be a top recruiter for your company you should employ every method possible to find prospects.

After all, it is called "network marketing".

Matt I'm not an MLM'r and rest assured the internet is just one aspect of my business.
I do lots of face to face
As for MLM strictly on the computer , well yes its difficult..but trying to build an MLM without internet marketing these days is virtually impossible for the average person. Years ago I did MLM (probably when you were a small child) and I was successful at it BUT compared to something like my property investing I found MLM to be too much time/effort for not enough reward - that is to say the effort/time was not commensurate with the income.

However I do feel that now with the internet assisting/presenting your business MLM is much more viable in terms of time vs monetary reward.

Good luck with your business I wish you well

There are people who are earning tens of thousands of dollars online in residual and have never picked up the phone to call their prospects and teams.

That is excellent! I can tell from your posts that you are either already successful with marketing or you are going to soon be successful with marketing. You certainly have a solid foundation and seem very knowledgeable on the areas that count. I look forward to seeing more of your posts =]!.

There are also people who rob banks for a living and steal from elderly people...

Ok so maybe it's not quite that bad but I really feel like doing everything you can to help people and make sure it's right for them is the best way to build a business.

Just my opinion.

Matt,

Since I don't call leads myself, I will email them when they join and offer my help. Doing this has done my business some good because of my training online and even videos that I made where people get to see me.

I don't know why, but calling prospect for me is a waste of time and I am sure that you think that I am wrong about that which is totally cool by me.

Everyone builds their business differently.

One of my mentors is doing very well online. He has taught me a lot and he never ever picked up the phone to call his team or prospects and he is doing a whole lot better then me in terms of bringing in a lot of interested prospects and getting them to upgrade and take action ( and also become leaders themselves).
